Agreed with birdofparadise's metaphor of the fashion DJ (...)

his metaphor really reminds me Nicolas Bourriaud's metaphor in his essay Postproduction ...

Nicolas BourriaudPostproduction

Postproduction. Culture as Screenplay: How Art Reprograms the World is the most recent essay by French writer and curator Nicolas Bourriaud. The author discusses how, since the early nineties, an ever increasing number of artworks have been created on the basis of preexisting works; more and more artists interpret, reproduce, re-exhibit, or use works made by others or available cultural products.

This art of postproduction seems to respond to the proliferating chaos of global culture in the information age, which is characterized by an increase in the supply of works and the art world’s annexation of forms ignored or disdained until now.

Interesting; but I guess all fashion fits into post-modernism. Everything goes in cycles and borrows from the past.

And- how can I rip this video off Jacobs' site?? Is it in flv format?

Postproduction artist...:p quite apt there. Careful about ruffling some feathers...^_^ I do give MJ some credit for artfully creating a semblance of spontaneity, and for giving up the blatant "inspiration" method.;) Mercibeaucoup is more suited to his talent than CdG, I must say. I completely support this particular trajectory...^_^:D

Btw, I've seen the spliced mirror in an interior magazine, Wallpaper, I can't remember the name of that project which is a popular bar.

I think it's fantastic! Bravo Marc! Much better than last season!

Although...some of this reminds me a bit of Lacroix RTW SS 08.

to say i loved this collection would be a bit of an understatement. marc did a great job. great mix of colors. i adore all the belts/sashes. the bags look great. i can see how this collection has much more appeal than his last few.

fabulous. i'll see if any other collection gets me going, like this one. thanks for all the pics, guys.

Amazing, such a turn around from the Fall show which seemed so dull in comparison. I watched the Marc Jacobs documentry today in class, and it's amazing to see all the work that goes into it and how precise he is with his work; I think this is making me appreciate this collection even more.

Just when I was getting bored with Marc's monotonous and predictable designs he wins me back with something unexpected. I like this collection a lot even though I wish he could one day put together a collection without using big hats.

oh hey this takes me back to Dries van Noten's 2008 collections...

I completely agree! The mixed-up styling is great in this show.

Other things I like/agree with:
- Anne of Green Gables
- love the plaid!
- Mary Poppins goes to Dubai lol
- omg the shoes & detail photos are exquisite
- high five Kate & Simona!!
- immigrant America & Suzy Menkes' whole review

Huge step-up from his last few shows!
I'm now loving marc jacobs again - such a great show, and the styling's incredible!
