Great work! I'm very jealous. :D There are still a lot of Marilyn Monroe's films I haven't seen yet.

The movie with Yves Montand is Let's Make Love. :)

Other Marilyn Monroe movies you should see:

How to Marry a Millionaire
Bus Stop
All About Eve
The Asphalt Jungle
There's No Business Like Show Business

Although Marilyn Monroe only has small roles in All About Eve and The Asphalt Jungle both movies are great on their own.

I love her in that movie. She's too damn cute.

Charlize Theron to play Marilyn Monroe

Theron set for Monroe role?
Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron is reportedly in negotiations to play the role of her idol, 1960s sex symbol Marilyn Monroe in the planned Tom Hanks film.

According to sources, the 'Monster' star is the current favourite to play the role of Monroe in the big-screen adaptation of the Anthony Summers biography 'Goddess'.

Theron is such an admirer of Monroe that she even considered buying the late actresses' luxurious Beverly Hills home.

Playtone Films, helmed by Hollywood superstar Hanks, is behind the project.

I don't really like the idea of Charlize Theron playing Marilyn Monroe. While she is a competent actress I don't think she looks like Marilyn Monrose sans the blonde hair. In my opinion she is too tall. However, I would probabaly go see the movie if it is made.

I tend to agree, Ziegfeld :flower:
Thanks for all the great pictures...can you look up which site Google got that last photo from?
Unfortunately, search engines are not sufficient for crediting a source.
We need to know which site it is from...thanks.

has anyone seen something's got to give - it was the movie she was making with dean martin that was never finished

i saw it once on tv but as it was never finished i didn't get to see how it would end

well, maybe this can help you:
The film 'Something's got to Give" was an intended remake of My Favorite Wife (1940) with Irene Dunne and Cary Grant.
Dean Martin refused to finish the film with anyone but Marilyn Monroe as his co-star, so when Monroe died unexpectedly in August 1962; the film was abandoned.
This material eventually became Move Over, Darling (1963) with Doris Day and James Garner replacing Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin. Many of the sets constructed for this version were used for that one.
info from IMDB:flower:
thanks for giving your source ZG- I karma-ed you :magic:

oh thanks for that - i was given my favorite wife on dvd and i havn't watched it yet...i'll have to check out move, over darling too!

After seeing her in Monster I really don't think she is appropriate for this role. Plus she has a very manly voice and is tall and quite masculine which is very opposite of Marilyn.

I think every Marilyn fan needs to see Bus Stop,Some Like It Hot&Misfits acting wise the best.I saw them all even the one she had a little part in it.I also enjoied Prince and the Showgirl!
I am not excited about Charlize taking the role either but maybe she could pull it off!God,Hollywood is really on a biopic frenzy!

Charlize cannot pull that off. I saw pictures of her several months ago and she looked nothing like Marilyn. She couldn't get the sexy eyes down.

I must say that I agree. Charlize is a good actress, she's beautiful but I don't find her feminine and sensual at all... But anyway, I don't think any actress could rightly incarnate Marylin. Let's just hope it will be a good movie...

I am a film junkie from way back

Here's one too, that's why I'm ashamed I haven't seen all of her work...I have seen Bus Stop though, I just forgot it from my list.

Charlize playing Marilyn---wasn't there a rumour of her playing opposite Kate Moss in a film about Dusty Springfield? I think this 'Marilyn' idea goes to the same category. I think Charlize was quite good on Monster, but that's about all. I don't think she's that great actress, and I have never seen a good film done about Marilyn---remember the horrible one with Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino? These films just try to shock audiences, nothing else.

I just got my copy of The Many Lives of Marilyn Monroe by Sarah Churchwell from the library. Is this book any good? I've hesitated to read biographies written about Marilyn, because they tend to be rubbish, and I get confused with so many theories. I usually prefer the photography books about her, at least that's true.

I've been inspired by this thread, and as here are so many people who truly know about Marilyn, I'd like to ask which are your favourites from the books written about her and which are just full absolute lies? Are there any biographies that one should read?

Style Savy thanky you very much for the beautiful pictures.Love them!Karma TO you!
