I highly recommend"Miltons Marilyn"its incredible. In my opinion he took the best photos of Marilyn. They are absoloutly beautiful and they were very good friends. In the book accompanied with many photos are storys by Miltons wife from the day they met her to the day they heard she died. And its very interesanting to observe Marilyn from someone elses point of view.
Did anyone read it?

I have...it is a nice read. Good recommendation there- I have read pretty much everything:p
I love finding out personal things that make her real and not the untouchable icon "Marilyn"... the little stories...:crush:

A Warhol on Monroe is never a repost, sweetie ;)

Paris Hilton is famous (for the wrong reasons) for sure, but sorry, she's not as famous as Marilyn Monroe. Monroe is an icon, even people who don't like her admit that. Hilton is not an icon, she's just someone who's too famous, and she's been around only a couple of years. There have been people with the same level of famousness as Hilton has now, but nobody remembers them anymore, after their 'moment'. Monroe's 'moment' hasn't met its end yet, even after decades.

As for films---I've been a fan of hers for years, and I have to admit, I haven't seen even half of the films she is in! Will I lose my 'cred' now? Anyway, three of my favourites are Niagara, The Seven Year Itch and The Misfits (I've seen more of course, I'm not that uneducated long-lasting fan ;) ). She plays different roles in each of them, and I just think that they are good films aswell as entertaining.

She did model for Chanel, for their classic perfume Chanel No. 5.

I agree 100% that the actresses/icons of today are nothing compared to her. Actually, they are nothing! I wish 99% of them would just fade away and vanish.

She didnt model for Chanel. She just made that famous remark and was ever since associated with it but she never modeled for them!

^^i agree paris isnt as famous as marilyn, and never, ever should be (what i meant was paris hilton is famous for nothing, where as celebrities like marilyn actually worked their way there and deserve to be there). ill try to find those films, but ive only ever seen m.monroe dvds in hmv thnku for the info white linen :flower:

Paris is nothing without her surname but Marilyn is a legend even with a fake name and surname...we can't even compare them

I always thought so! Silly me. But there's that famous photograph of her putting No. 5 on?

Yeah there is but its just a photo someone took! That picture is not an advert! If you look at it she did for that perfume more than any campaign or commercial.Because of her it became a legend among perfumes! And i am not sure they had famous people modelling for huge fashion houses then, like we have today!

^True, they didn't model for fashion houses then---can you imagine that bliss?

Which of Monroe's films would you recommend?

I thought the Marilyn/Chanel picture should be posted...rather coincidental that I'm wearing No5 today.:D

I've seen "The Asphalt Jungle", "All About Eve", "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", "How to Marry a Millionaire", "The Seven Year Itch", and "Some Like It Hot". I think the only one I wouldn't recommend is "The Asphalt Jungle" because she's not in it very much. (Although I don't remember her being in "All About Eve" that much either, it's still a classic in its own right.)

I also found a few other photos that I don't believe have been posted.

The movie with Yves Montand is Let's Make Love. :)

Other Marilyn Monroe movies you should see:

How to Marry a Millionaire
Bus Stop
All About Eve
The Asphalt Jungle
There's No Business Like Show Business

Although Marilyn Monroe only has small roles in All About Eve and The Asphalt Jungle both movies are great on their own.

I have seen all her films...I am a film junkie from way back :innocent:
