Martin Margiela - Designer

i hate to ask you since you were so kind to post them, but is there any way you can make the images a bit smaller because it takes a bit long to load for me?

Interesting. I wonder what they look like actually on a foot.... I imagine not very comfortable though, with tape and all.

OOH thank you for those scans! :woot:

Stella Tennant? Very nonconformist :innocent:
Anyway she's gorgeous. Absolutely not Margiela, but still pretty...

I love it, but all that money for something that has to be taped on???

A little visual aid...the "topless sandals" were made for the S/S 1996 catwalk. I believe there was in fact an option to produce them, but it was probably understood that they were intended more as conceptual showpieces than fuctional footwear.

(scanned by me, from the Maison Martin Margiela/Street Special Edition book)

thanks for sharing all the great scans. i believe there was a step-by-step guide on how to make the socks-sweater in A Magazine! really nice to see the older collections from MMM. really inspiring.

stella tennant is pretty but i wished that a non-model, non-celebrity was used for the retrospective. but all is good! definitely a keeper. cheers.

thanks for clarifying droogist...
what book is that?...must be excellent!...

:woot:

i did a crappy web animation of webcam shots of the step-by-step guide on how to make your own socks sweater. the pictures are a bit shoddy though.

pic: webcam shots from A Magazine curated by MMM

the sweater sock that was featured in purple was probably military socks, judging from the colour. its such a fun project, making your own sock sweater.

thanks for those pictures droogist. the sock sweater looks neat. has anyone here actually made one?

droogist,i completely agree with that! there's actually some other pics of those shoes on his muse model in Belgian Fashion Design as well as his Street Ed. book. they're really interesting but they were indeed more for concept and the visual than actual commerciality.

Maison Martin Margiela

Do anyone know Who Manufacture Martin Maison Margiela Men's in France? I found his quality improved a lot

I would assume it has some relation to Diesel as that is the parent company.

In France? If you're talking about the pieces made in France, then I assume they are made by the atelier, but I don't believe you're talking about the artisanal pieces.
In Italy, Etro is right, Staff International (owned by Diesel) produces some pieces. The shoes are handmade in little artisanal factories (or are said so).

Well I didn't know you were talking about the artisnal (playing card vest, jacket of ski gloves, etc). Aren't they one of a kind? I would assume they were then made in the design studio/atelier.
