Matthew M. Williams - Designer

Im waiting to see what Balenciaga PR team has to say, this is a big deal for them !!! demna is also apart of this, all this drama for the ugliest clothes ever!!

Also it is becoming a PR disaster not only for Givenchy but also for Balenciaga now...

Both of you were right. 2 posts from Kanye today targeting the Balenciaga crew (specifically Eliza Douglas lol) for liking Tremaine's instagram post about Kanye - though Demna and Loic are spared, with Kanye basically confessing his love for Demna.

Bumping this, is the man still designing or he’s out already?

....indifferent designs, no clear vision....yeah, it's time to go.

I will be gentle and say maybe he'll surprise us at the upcoming Couture/AW 2023 collections but I'm not betting money on it.

^ Matthew doesn't have any technical skills to work within the range of RTW, let alone couture. That was the only smart decision of this tenure, to avoid creating any mess of a collection under the haute couture label. I also have a feeling that he won't make it to the F/W 2023 season because if I remember correctly, his contract is up in December.

well, I just hope they pick a good successor and give that person time to build out as they did with Ricardo. That's all one can hope for at this stage.

Hopefully that's not true. One look at the designer's website / social media / and their online store offering and you can see there is a certain sexy aesthetic often associated with the cut of the fabric around the chest. Not sure how that would translate to the Givenchy look but at this point, what look is appropriate as the Givenchy look?

To be honest, I can see her being appointed as Givenchy doesn't have a budget to hire a star designer anymore. Is it a good solution? I don't think so, but the brand is already damaged.

I'm still not convinced Nensi Dojaka is not a one-trick pony---like MW.

Not sure this is the replacement they need.

Same. Her brand aesthetic is something that I like but can see looking very dated in about two years when no one wants such dresses anymore, and then what? The look felt like it was growing up a bit in recent seasons, but I'm not convinced it's 'heading up Givenchy' material there.

She seems to be about some degree of construction - lingerie etc.....but I'm not sure that was ever backed by technical skills considering her 'house style' dresses look terrible on anyone over a C cup. Oh, well, we'll see.

Really Nensi?
i like her brand, but i just can't believe that...Maybe they should persuade Phoebe Philo to do it :flower:

They are going to chew her up; and then spit her up...well, the normal procedure here!

Lingerie at Givenchy...not a fan of her work; but it is way better than "101 Dalmatians" on crack.
Her POV is very limited to revamp a house like Givenchy.
