I refuse to believe she had an ounce of self awareness.Did she, though?
This puritan collection haunts me still...Yeah, many couture clients were not thrilled about Viard's designs, this is what one of the male chinese couture clients posted on ig after she presented her couture collection:

Its beyond bad. The tweed looks like papier macher, the bottom of the dress (?) is like made out of a mosquito net. The cut is like she never saw the female or human body in her life. Insulting to present that in a Chanel runway. This is not that bad though? Much more tasteful and Chanel in essence than this monstrosity for example:

I’d say it’s not tweed but sequins. Its beyond bad. The tweed looks like papier macher, the bottom of the dress (?) is like made out of a mosquito net. The cut is like she never saw the female or human body in her life. Insulting to present that in a Chanel runway.
If Viard only made boring collections like Maria Grazia, I wouldn't say anything. But what she made at certain seasons was just offensive. Bad design on top of cheap looking fabrics. And hey, those fabrics are not cheap at all, it takes a certain (lack) of talent to make them look that way.
Chanel is a couture house in essence. They can't get away with showing bad fashion season after season.
All I see in the dress you posted is quality of materials, craftsmanship and a understanding of the female shape - Its not a simple dress but its not a cheap dress either. Not to mention Karl understood that the Chanel silhouette was more about the hip area, even if he deviated from that several times with belts, pseudo corsets, etc.
I have a terrible astigmatism either way it's awfulI’d say it’s not tweed but sequins.
That baby looks better than all the Chanel models that have been posted in the last three pages.😍You think Puritans would wear that sh*t? Now this is couture, baby. Virginie literally could never.

But it’s not even about Karl.I think this is giving Karl too much credit. I truly think he made ugly sh!t just to tell the audience. And I'm not even mad at that. At least it's self aware. VV made ugly crap, fully believing it was 'artistic '.
I think this nicely sums it up. I think the vast majority of his attempts ended up in the "Gimmix" pile, but the effort to sell them to the elite was funny nonetheless.Sometimes, you try and you see if it works.
20 Sept 2023 — Mulier, now the creative director of Alaïa, and Mr. Blazy split up earlier this year; they are friends and share custody of the dog, though .. noo worries lolBit late to the game, but I’d be interested to see where he takes Chanel. But I’m not really excited for it, in fact I’m far from it. Not that I think it’ll be bad, just right right now it feels like yet another designer move so all I can really say is good luck Blazy.
Is he still with Pieter? Curious as it’s a little funny that they’re now both at what were houses that were helmed by pretty much archenemies. Alaia and Lagerfeld… Mulier and Blazy…
That being said, if they are I genuinely hope they don’t share any design ideas with each other. Also with Raf. The trio need to distance themselves from each other. Especially between Mulier and Blazy as there were instances where their Bottega and Alaia shared WAAAAAAY too much with each other.
