Matthieu Blazy - Designer, Creative Director of Chanel

Go check your eyes if you could not see Chanel in this collection, honestly. And check them again if you see Bottega instead of Blazy's own design elements/techniques.

I was not sure about him because he's close to Raf, but now I see he's different, have a total distinct spirit in his work.

You’re actually convincing me even more. I see why they chose him - his silhouettes are consistently flattering, and now he’s translated that to Chanel. That 3 tier skirt on that lady is a Lagerfeld code for example.

I think MBs success at Bottega Veneta came largely from the fact that it was true high fashion you could actually order online. Unlike Hermès or Chanel, which keep their top-tier products offline, BV offers multiple $10k bags, $ 7k rtw available for direct shipping. That accessibility resonated with younger, maybe crypto-rich buyers. In a world where everything arrives within two hours, the idea of visiting a boutique without knowing the price, delivery time, or even availability feels almost absurd. A fully developed online presence will be essential if Chanel wants to achieve similar growth - they’ll need to modernize their distribution model to match today’s digital luxury landscape. Chanel will need to offer their lesage suits and precious exotics online. Crypto bro millionaires who are permnanently online will not call a concierge to secure a Chanel flap…

flattering & silhouettes are two words that are like water and oil for blazy´s work this you can't proof otherwise if you have eyes with clear vision.

Bottega Veneta did €1.7 billion (2024) Revenue
Chanel did $18.7 billion (2024) Revenue

Chanel won't do online because they pride themselves on service for alterations client relationship etc or they come to client homes or send racks to clients home and what you don't want you send back to the store.

no need for online for Chanel

Bottega Veneta success was built on Thomas Maier and then Daniel Lee
Maier's 17-year tenure was marked by a focus on craftsmanship and a "quiet luxury" aesthetic, eschewing logos to highlight the brand's iconic intrecciato weave, and sales surpassed $1 billion by 2012

i leave it up to you to figure out how much growth Lee added and then Blazy sustained it :-)

everyone that loves the new Chanel should :-) i am only showing what i say and what i notice

Blazy isnt doing fitted like Karl though. He uses a lot of ease.

Are the sales you mentioned for rtw bags and shoes. BV has no cosmetic or perfume presence like Chanel.

The replacement for the racks of stuff is Chanel Uber - place the order online and if youre within a radius of a boutique theyll dispatch a Seamstress and SA. 22 year old Solana barons dont know what getting clothes on approval is and they pay in cash equivalent not credit so approval is less appealing.

I liked Maier too and got like 2 pieces of his RTW and a couple boring bags bc back then they only had stodgy mens bags. I thought Lees stuff was incomprehensible and Blazy to be Lee Light. I got the most bags from BV recently and am about to move on that Amber and Fondant Tribeca mens bag. I guess thats what made me think of it - shopping the online collection there appears to be nothing held back. Again where else to buy a 10 k new bag from a top label... I think the bag team at BV shouldve maybe gone to Chanel too.

Karl did many silhouettes in his 36 years at Chanel its not about tight or fitted its about cut and propstion something can be loose and away from the body but cut well to flatter the silhouette like Karl knew how to do.

Honestly online or not Chanel is bigger than BV and success of BV is not online related its about the image and product and brand halo, online play small part of total sales at BV.

I am not here to advise Chanel on how to do online business lol
I'm here to chat and be amazed of how ugly Blazy Chanel is lol

At Goyard you can order via email and they ship to your home and it can go over 10k for trunks etc

Oh how I missed these unashamed designer roasts here during your temporary ban from tFS. ❤️

I just find this collection messy. Dior is also messy. It’s in the air, this undone relaxed look.

But personally I want more control and precision. And I agree I think it’s a carbon copy of his bottega.

I find this whole charvet shirt with the chain so lame and basic, exemplified by Nicola Kidman wearing it with jeans.

Even the set feels messy.

Clean up the mess, but keep the young spirit.

Well, he has a style, an aesthetic, some gimmicks,... which designer doesn't?

Lmao i was just email ordering from goyard and they made me write that about online ordering too. They are in the stone ages. I wanted to try to stay on topic since we are here to talk about blazy lol

In addition to what PDFSD wrote about the fit, I think that he also meant that the market that embraces the Blazy aesthetic is 1/10 (or much smaller) of the classic Chanel (Karl) aesthetic.

When men are dressed in their tailor made suits in boardrooms, no woman in the same room will wear the Blazy blazers. Wait for Anna Wintour, Christine Lagarde, and Jane Fraser to adopt this look - they won't.

SAs also confirmed that customers are buying up the classic pieces in stores right now in fear that the Blazy Chanel will pivot to a very different aesthetic that is largely deemed undesirable (outside a portion of the fashion circle).

The family that owns Goyard comes from the South of France and because the father owned a very successful RTW brand, industrial called Chipie. Goyard was their « vanit project » and therefore when they relaunched it, they never really wanted to expand it that much.

They are very lovely people but they really believe in that idea of an artisanal, luxury product that has to be slightly hard to get.

It’s making a lot of money but they are stuck in their ways. For me they really have to rethink some of their designs…

But yes they are in stone ages lol

Kindly describe it because i can't see anyone explain in in a clear way regarding him, it's always loose words like: modern and i like it , its finally not VV or KL , its thing i want to wear /woman want to wear ....etc feedback

and nor can he himself or does he explain his style or vision when ever i read his interviews but happy to learn more.

i love that you just send a email and list you wished and it get confirmed you pay via link etc and it comes to you i see no problem.
i would not stand in line at a store that's poverty and covid is over.

i used to wear Chipie growing up omg childhood coming back to haunt me lol

the Signoles should stay as they are and i disagree they launch allots of styles and update gradually old ones.

i love their stuff and the colors ar addictive like lego.

i like that they are investing in manufacturing and buying up slowly their manufactures etc its very much a mini Chanel style.

they are open minded as i know from a project that sadly didn't happen, but they are exposed allot so keeping it small and not easy balances the fakes and tik tok videos off.

Maison Goyard made a profit of €514m in 2024 and €663m in 2023 with no more than 35 stores its tinny if we compare In 2024, Hermès net profit reached €4.6 billion.-293 stores

they are being very smart too grow slowly long game that will pay off like hermes is having now.

all the Gen z girls want the totes that's already dangerous territory

This belongs in a compilation of fashion-industry 'Lagerfeldisms' along with my favourite quote from a StyleForum user roughly ten years ago:

"Single-ply cashmere? That's no way to live."

(I believe it was Fuuma.)
