What's with all the belts? It's absolutely hideous.
What's with all the belts? It's absolutely hideous. That, as well as the black widow getup she wore with dramatic headscarf. Mourning her freedom, perhaps?
Putting politics aside, I think she's been dressing beautifully. Some of the belts are unnecessary, but overall she's looked beautiful and elegant. I think if she was married to anyone else people would be absolutely raving about her style.
Just as a side note, the black veil was for her visit to the Vatican where they asked her to cover her hair.

Like I saw in one meme, dress for the job you want (Widow)
The last look is nice, I guess.
And even if it was she could have chosen another veil that doesn't look like an old ladies' table cloth that randomly ended up on her head.
Style wise, she is nouveau riche and it shows. Her outfits, while mostly "classy", carry that feeling of an Eastern European woman that married rich. Important elements of her style are dated - hair and makeup especially - and that significantly brings down whatever modern garment she might sometimes wear.
I have a slight problem with her and Dolce & Gabbana though. She wore the brand almost exclusively in Italy and Sicily and therefore looked like a walking billboard, changing in and out of at least five straight off the runway outfits. It almost looks like she benefits financially from this.
vogue.comMelania Trump Wears Monique Lhuillier for Ford’s Theatre Gala
Last night in Washington, D.C., Melania Trump attended the Ford Theatre’s annual gala with her husband. The First Lady eschewed her wardrobe of sharply tailored coat dresses and suits for a softer silhouette from Monique Lhuillier. Fresh from the brand’s new Resort collection, the Champagne-colored dress was Grecian in feeling with subtle pleat work and demure draping.
It was a quite departure from the vibrant hues that Trump has been wearing lately; she donned a cornflower yellow Christian Dior to meet the Australian prime minister and a raspberry pink frock on her tour of Saudi Arabia. Trump kept the neutral theme through the accessories with coordinating Manolo Blahnik stilettos.
Melania Trump Wears Michael Kors to Meet Panama's President and First Lady
After spending the weekend at Camp David in shirt dresses and denim, Melania Trump returned to more tailored pieces back in Washington, D.C., choosing a Michael Kors Collection sheath dress to greet Panama’s President and First Lady. To mark the occasion, Trump donned a familiar powder blue shade, recalling the custom Ralph Lauren jacket and dress combo she wore to this year’s Inauguration, but with a slightly more fashion-forward feel.
The Kors dress was also spotted on Cindy Crawford last week in Italy, and where the ’90s supermodel punctuated her look with a silver belt, Trump went austere. She eschewed a jacket and let Christian Louboutin floral patterned stilettos take the focus.
Melania Trump Returns from Camp David Wearing Céline
Melania Trump returned to the White House yesterday afternoon from her first weekend at Camp David. The First Lady departed for the summer home on Friday in a Gabriela Hearst shirtdress, a shift from the strongly tailored ensembles from Altuzarra, Michael Kors, and The Row she's worn. Trump’s travel wardrobe tends to stick with neutral tones and feminine silhouettes, including the Bally culottes she chose to move into the White House and Hervé Pierre’s leather pencil skirt from her first international trip.
Sticking with olive and white, Trump wore a slouchy button-down shirt and skinny jeans with Manolo Blahnik’s python sandals and Céline’s Luggage Phantom bag for high fashion accessories. Topping off the look were mirrored aviators and Trump’s diamond ring.
First Lady Melania Trump Heads to Camp David in Gabriela Hearst
It’s officially summer and for the President, that means weekends away at Camp David, located just outside of Washington D.C. in Maryland. Joining him on his first outing to the rustic retreat today was Melania Trump, who was dressed casually for the occasion. The First Lady has favored a softly tailored silhouette and comfortable shoes with her off-duty style in the past. She slipped on candy apple-red flats by Christian Louboutin with a tonally coordinated dress to receive foreign leaders in Palm Beach earlier this year, for instance, following up with a similar outfit on an outing to the Morikami Museum with the Akie Abe, the Japanese Prime Minister's wife, on the same trip. Today's ensemble, a shirt dress by Gabriela Hearst, was yet another example.
The eyelet-trimmed dress featured a fit and flare silhouette that was secured with a wide leather belt by Michael Kors, a waist-cinching look that is beginning to become a Trump signature. She wore another pair of her simple skimmer shoes, this time in brown, and her familiar square-edged sunglasses.
vogue.comMelania Trump Moves Into the White House in Dolce & Gabbana and Bally
After many months, Melania Trump is finally moving to Washington, D.C. Arriving with her husband, parents, and son Barron, Trump appeared in a Dolce & Gabbana tailored top, Bally trousers, an Hermès Birkin, and python Manolo Blahnik stilettos.
The ensemble took cues from the Max Mara and Hervé Pierre top and skirt combo the First Lady wore to depart for her first international trip. Trump’s simple and sleeveless white shell acted as a foil for her culottes, which had exposed seams much like the Pierre leather skirt. Trump chose a tonally coordinated Birkin bag and Blahnik stilettos to accompany the look, along with her diamond ring and oversize shades.
