Menswear Catwalk Trends S/S 07

men.style.com named the top 10 trends of spring and cropped pants didnt make it (even though several designers are showing them). =?

i love what i see at vivienne, prada, and burberry (minus the rasta-esque headwear)

the gq guys suck... i just like to see what trends dominate..
following trends is for posers...really.. its all about timeless chic..
loot at Carol Christian poell..what he does is timeless...seasonless..original and classic..

cropped pants trend has been around since ss06..probably why they didnt mention.. i remember when yohji started that.. probably inspired by old chinese rickshaw drivers or something like that..

^I just posted it as some people may have found it helpful. All gq have done taken the highlights and big things on the catwalks and compiled them. And please can we not get on2 the whole "following trends" argument. Its tiresome. Everyone does it to some extent, and if they "don't" they are just trying to be different which is pitiful to see as well.

Way to feminine for my taste. I'll stick to my jeans and hh boots, or a pair of sandals and my ankle-length skirt. When the weather turns really cold, I'll probably combine the hh boots, insulating tights, and the skirt.

Wow. It's like shorts with blazers is tried every other season, and it always looks tacky.

And those baggy, plastic-looking (rain?) coats are rediculous.

:sick::ninja:

The blazers with shorts look good in some cases, but definetly not something I'd wear.

I like the new Prada suits and the cardigan thing, looks real fresh to me.

Does anyone else feel that after a kind of sober, dark F/W 06-07 the S/S 07 shows are kind of wacky? Like a jerk in the other direction.
- Blazers with shorts. Sure some designer always do it, but it seem more prevalent this season. If it's warm enough to wear shorts, I'm not going to be wearing a jacket though.
-Shiny! From the Prada raincoats to Dolce's suits, to Dior's mettalics and Burberry prosum's sweater, lots of shiny things.
-Loose silhouette. It does seem like many designers are relaxing the slhouette. I'm glad to see Hedi at Dior Homme kept his skinny aesthetic though.
-Cropped pants. I can see myself getting into these. I tried Capri's a few years ago and they didn't work out so well. I'm also not big on shorts unless it's unbearably hot, so cropped pants would be a good compromise for me.

I'm generally getting sort of a futuristic feel to this next season, following a very romantic/historic winter.

I sold Summer 07 back in July and my favourite look to come from it was a 70s surfer boy look with a preppy twist.

Washed out plaids, fitted tees, drawstring pants, the blazer and short combination, long cotton scarves...

I'm really liking the new YSL cruise collection 07. Really simple and fun with a good mix of colors that work perfectly together. Really the first YSL line that i've liked almost everything.

I usually like YSL, but yes, the cruise line is great. (However, I was really disappointed with the spring/summer collection.) I'm definately getting a pair of the white baggy pants!

Thom Browne Spring 2007

Hello everyone
Has anyone seen the Thom Browne SS07 collection? ^_^
I found his choice of model (someone who does not remind of me stick insects or a 12 yo boy), cutting (fitted blazers, above the knee shorts, ankle length trousers), the material, (quite 'stiff' for a spring collection and lace?) colours (range from light grey, white, which are popular, to charcoal), and colours pretty interesting. I would love to know your thought on the collection. Thank you.

As much as I think Thom Browne is an innovator in many ways I can't help but turn away at his prices. I agree that he has some fantastic detailing and you can get a totally bespoke suit from him, but some of the prices he charges for off the rack is rediculous!
I do agree about the choice of model though. Looks like a regular guy.

Thank you for your reply Casius. LOL I would love to get a tailored suit from him... but its near impossible to get that stuff in Australia...

Yea, that would be pretty difficult to geta suit living in OZ. I would love to see one of his suits without the pants and sleeves being short because the fit otherwise is amazing.
Still don't know if I like the whole jacket and short look...

I dislike a whole lot of it. Little that can be pulled off in real life by mere mortals. I did like some invididual pieces, and will probably get some, but most of the trends don't appeal to me.
