I've seen suspenders/braces work well on tall, skinny guys. And the suspenders themselves need to be very skinny.

Well maybe you've seen them on me : ) I'm 6ft1, and 155lbs. I bought two pairs of suspenders a few weeks ago--one skinny black, one skinny white pair. I'm in love with them. Tights on the other hand, I have romanticised the idea but never followed through.

Braces have been happening for a while now, I've also been wearing them as a belt or just wearing them hanging down.
Anyway in regards to summer trends, I have seen alot of shorts (typical) but also alot of white, so get your scotch guard out.
