there was a post about ralph's spring collection somewhere else and they said it was boring. anyway, i like his stuff, even if its not innovative or new. there's nothing like a revived classic redone in a modern way. go ralph!

Vivienne Westwood Redux
How she influenced the 2004 runways

Viv & Oscar: Conflama
Conflict and drama ignite with this fall 1995 creation. For spring 2004, Oscar de la Renta’s ladies are also causing a commotion, though the look is more daytime drama than florid fantasy.

Viv & LV: Tartan Glam
For Westwood, tartan is a way of life. Her fall 1996 season included skirts, suits, bondage trousers and wraps, proving wool plaid was as malleable as black jersey. Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton reinterprets a tea time tartan look for fall 2004.

"Alice in Wonderland dressed by Vivienne Westwood"

Viv & Lacroix (Sweetie!:( Wild Wedding
Dress, shmess. According to Viv, the veil is the real showstopper. Lacroix’s billowing headdress for spring 2004 couture is a modern update of Westwood’s 1995 white wedding.

Viv & John: The White Stripes
Westwood and Galliano are both working Meg and Jack White’s motif. Check out the Edwardian sleeves and 19th century construction with a 20th century twist.

Vivienne Westwood is severely underrated :( But I think it's hard to say if she was direct influences on these corrections *shrugs* The tartan does seem a bit obvious though.

vivienne westwood has influenced everyone ...whether they realize it or not by virtue of the trickle down factor, if nothing else...i don't know if she's really under-rated...most people recognize her contribution to the industry and fashion as a whole...i do think that her stuff has been unwearable...for the most part anyway, for several seasons...so she may have been over-looked for awhile...

glas to see she's back in the saddle... that was a cute piece igni-thx for posting :flower:

Thanks for posting Igni! I actually just finished looking at that article on FWD! I think the Tartan is really the only influence from Vivienne. I think Vivienne is somewhat under-rated in general but the more fashion-concious people realize the contributions that she has made over the years. I recently read a biography on her and I was stunned to find out then numerous things she did!

Vivienne Westwood is oen of the msot underated deisgners.

Without her galliano would be nothing, punk fashion would never have hit big and alot fo the historical styles would nto have happened.

i've always loved vivienne, but i wonder why they never show her in vogue...her designs are unique and original and she's stuck with something and kept it going for years...the shape, the cut...you can always tell which garmet is hers sorta thing.

It's been said about VW that she's very creative, has great ideas and influences a lot of people; I think that's really true.

Others transform those influences into prettier, more wearable, more commercial clothes than those VW makes...

love her.
had a project on her during my fashion studies and whe is one AMAZING designer hwo has had a HUGE influence in the ENTIRE fashion world

Vivienne Westwood is one of the most underated designers.

I don't think she is underrated either. I think she deserves to be celebrated, and is. (V&A exhibit which I am hopefully going to)
Vivienne Westwood is a designer that has very very greatly influenced the fashion world, and anything else I say would probably have been said many times so I stop here.
I still want those pirate boots :argg:

(space, I hope you don't mind but I made your post make a lil more sense )
