Menswear Trends S/S 06

I'm not really a fan of the actual presentations for designer menswear in s/s 06...I'll probably break the looks down to their bare concepts and work from there while adding my own twist. In particular I really like the volume theme that's becoming a recurring theme in Raf Simons' latest collections, but I might wear it with a Kris Van Assche twist with some easy, less structured shirts. Or get some Dior Homme s/s 06 mod t-shirts and wear em with pants from their past seasons.

hmm i agree with yu FTB.. i see the stylist in you... i did like the volume in the raf simons pants frm the sso6 season.. the problem is that they only flatter the tall and thin..doesent everything... im about 5 10"ish 11"ish so i dunno... i like them but i havent seen em in person to comment.. im seeing those long john style pants to become a trend.. ann demeulemeester, CCp and a few others seem to be doing their versions.. but i liked CCPs over Ann Ds pants.. but her tops are freakin awesome.. some of this stuff(trenches) from aussie designer JOSH GOOT is quite good if styled well altho some of it is vertainly not my cup of tee www.joshgoot.com ... they havent put their new stuff on there but again only certain pieces are nice..

tell me what u think guys..

Question, do you think 130lb @6'2" on a guy is disguistingly skinny?

Random, I know.

yeah its pretty skinny. im just +5lbs of that. same height. standard tight jeans arent so 'tight'anymore haha.

sorry to bring this up... but you can't just force clothes on someone, when clothes are such an expression of ourselves.
And also sadly enough it seems like the majority of girls i know arn't into encouraging their guys into being more experimental in their clothing, quite the opposite, most of the girl i know would prefer for guys to dress-down.

...props...

i like the skinny, loose pant look coming up..
paisley in moderation..
white pants on the runway (but in reality has mostly only seen this on 50+ yr old men)..
suspenders with the right body.. dangers of looking like pete doherty..
no to skinny ties and stripes.. zzzz.. its been regurgitated over and over.. i wish they'd actually reinvent it rather than pretend its so fresh each time..

it seems like both mens and womenswear for s/s are suited for a very specific body type.. but i'm actually more excited about mens s/s than womens..

New Guys styles? 2006?

Dark Blue jeans...Does anyone see this fad changing? I wear them..was wearing them pretty early on but when I see so many adopting the same I wanna move on..but whats next. The "look" most common is..dark faded blue jeans with vertical fade lines..usually some trendy esque trainers ( Diesel, Ben Sherman) the whole deal is getting far too common and I'd like to what styles are up N coming for guys my age 28-35

Any hints on where to look to get ahead of the curve..I like the future:P

lol dark blue jeans are timeless but perhaps you could opt for some black jeans or distressed black? distressed black is a GOOD look! or if you are truly daring and don't mind looking like a penguin, go for some low crotch skinnies; they're all the rage in japan at the moment

Thanks for the ideas, I guess Im seeing how everyone at work is starting to dress the same as me so Im striving to get away from the copycats! But not too extreme..I'll check out black ones then thanks!

on the contrary i do see some light colored jeans coming back..but they have to be worn properly..

LISOC.. i think the black stovepipes have gone overboard. maybe on the right person worn the right way.. but IMO with those Uber "trendy" tsubi surfie styling it does no justice... sorry but i hate mainstream SURFIE hype...with a passion.

wild one...i suggest getting a pair of well cut jeans from edwin..in the slimmer fit or APC(www.apc.fr) ore even helmut lang.. if u can find it where u live.. just put it together with some no nonsense pieces eg.. well fitted tshirt.. cashmere cardigan/crews etc or even a nice military inspired jacket.. ull be rockin.. make sure u wear monotoned shoes/boots and keep the color palette sober( and please avoid chunky hi-top retro sneakers)..thats just my opinion but u can twist it up..

That is so true. It's so annoying. It's like most girls just want Abercrombie/AE/GAP regurgitations. I'll never understand...

Please say no to paisley.

^ paisley:sick: totally agree what about flower prints:sick::sick::sick:

i think girls are intimidated by men who are well dressed.. they like to be the better looking ones.. girls:rolleyes:

Good point! It's also suprising to a lot of these mouthy types when you confront them and tell them to f*ck off! I would guess philly is a lot like the rest opf the US;rigidly conformist;particularly since dawn of the Dubya!

Why?!?! I've never understood why (most) men are so fashion shy. I went shopping today and every guy I saw looked exactly the same (oversized striped shirt, baggy pants, dirty sneakers - all AF). They even had the same shaggy, side-swept hair style
There is nothing sexier than a guy who takes care in his appearance and appreciates fashion.

Sorry for the rant...back on-topic :P

I beg to differ. Paisley ties are all the rage in Tokyo right now :P

sadly true. My girlfriend has commented I'm sometimes a little too well dressed compared to my peers

i'm thinking the same thing.. whats wrong with paisley and flower prints? I've seen it done really well..

at the very least, its better than lumberjack flannel.. :innocent:
