It's so sad she didn't wear traditional African hairstyles when she was First Lady. She said people weren't ready but people in Africa have been wearing their hair like that for centuries.

That's such bullsh*t. She's always been praised for her toned arms. Who was she trying to please ? Racists ? Black people didn't start wearing braids when Michelle Obama felt comfortable enough to do so. She's talking about race all the time, yet she wasn't brave enough to do the work of actively resisting black stereotypes, prejudice and quite frankly racism while she was in the White House. Black people all over the world wore braids before, during and after her time in the White House. It's not some fashion statement. It's a protective hairstyle with deep traditional roots in America and in Africa too !
