Do you by any chance know if this discount is global?

Unfortunately, it's US only.

EEP! Student discount? Maybe I will get myself one...hahaha. I think that iPods are awesomely cool...and the fact that absolutely everyone where I live has one still doesn't make me not want one, which says something. I prefer to regulars to the minis, though, and I dislike the colors of the minis. :ninja: I don't like pastels in general, though.

Bonchic: to get the songs to the iPod, you need to transfer them to your computer first. Download iTunes (free program) from apple.com and transfer your cds to the program by putting them into the disk drive and clicking 'upload songs from cd' in iTunes (lefthand side, the disk icon). You can also buy songs from iTunes, but you don' have to ($.99 each). To get them from your computer to the iPod, you use a cable I think...but you'll get instructions for that from your iPod package I believe. :) Good luck if you get one.

Funny enough, I just bought a mini iPod today for my sister's christmas present :P I got it in silver because thats what she wanted, but I personally preferred green.

Anyway I have the 40GB iPod and its great, but sometimes iTunes (the software to transfer the songs) messes up and its a hassle when you're not good with electronics like myself.

I bought one about a month ago, and don't think I use it enough. It was exciting having a sexy piece of technology as my new toy for a while. I'm considering selling it.

i'm not sure about them.
i'm considering a mini.
because i have a 20GB dell dj right now.
but, i'd like something a little less bulky + yes, cuter :) for everyday use just to stick in my bag when i wanna listen to music + whatnot...
+ i think the 4gb that it has will be plenty for what i want it for.
i've had my dell dj for a while now + i've only filled about 3gb of the 20, which is plenty for me (898 tracks..)
...but it still seems like a little bit of a rip off....for $50 more you can get the 20b ipod...4,000 more songs....haha.

I seriously doubt that.

I'm getting one for Christmas. I'm torn between the 20GB regular and the pink mini, just cuz it's pink and I adore pink. The regular is definitely the better value but I don't know if I would need more than what you get with the mini. Also, at least with less space you are gonna be more particular about what songs you put on and not fill up the space with crap just to fill it up. Who knows?

too popular. they couldn't meet demand for the whole year, they are only catching up now. the stuff is flying out of the stores. why would they lower the price?

Me too..they are practically sold out everywhere I went to find one.

i heard rumors that apple has 6GB mini HDs...
they might upgrade the mini to be 6GB instead of 4GB
just a rumor though

I think it depends where you live whether or not they are sold out. back when I wanted an mp3 player they had lots in stock in my city (small city Canada) but I ended up getting a different brand because my computer couldn't support the USB2 port and it was too expensive to change all my hardware when I was going to get a new computer in a year.

Anyway, the student discount also applied to Canadian university students as well as far as I know. I went to the apple.ca website and from there you can enter your school and student number and receive the discount. maybe if you go to the your country specific website you can also receive the student discount.

hmm I wonder if that works for homeschoolers? Some of my friends are homeschoolers or is it just for college kids? I get it now about the sale thing on i-pods that is so true they are very popular.

if you get an ipod and you want to download music to put on ur ipod you can use i tunes right? i am kinda confused though, why would anyone buy a song off of itunes for .99 cents when you don't have to? so the question i am wondering about is: if you have an ipod and you want to download music onto it from itunes the thing you download, do you have to pay .99 cents? because i don't like taking my chances on like Kazza and limewire, they are illegal and they can give you viruses. someone please respond i am so lost with this stuff! thanks!

Thank you!

After browsing a bit on the Danish Apple site I finally found a link which apparently enables me to get an 8% student discount on the mini.

The new price is DKK 1951,25 (about €257) including the 25%(!) VAT  we have to pay on everything here in Denmark.

How is that compared to the price in the US and elsewhere?
