I don't see why they just didn't put a restriction on the amount of each item like H&M does.
i've never had a problem buying target's designer items before in stores. i have been buying items from their designer collaborations since 2001. everything was stocked and re-stocked before. sure, there were people waiting outside for the proenza schouler, rodarte and mcqueen & liberty stuff - but they werent buying a hundred items. and the mulberry for target items were re-stocked and sold for 50% off...
but for some of the home design collaborations people were buying ENTIRE stocks wiping out the whole thing instantly like they did for orla kiely.
unfortunately poverty levels in the US are up, and this makes some people feel the need to hoard and re-sell for tax free income.
there might also been organized shoplifting rings at work here.
so i think its a perfect storm really..(a confluence of all these factors)
its unfortunate for the rest of us normal reasonable people...
