Miu Miu S/S 2026 Paris

ugh, that KJ arrival was tackyyy
Hoping the collection somewhat makes up for the brand deciding they need ever more clout

For a few years now I have not been a fan of Miu Miu anymore, horrible prints, clothes that in my opinion could not even really work decontextualized. I miss Katie Grand's styling for the brand. Not that good.

This is a decent MiuMiu show I guess…
I don’t know. I love an apron dress. It’s an easy shape and it’s quite versatile, so much that I have myself 5 apron dresses that my seamstress/tailor made some in light gabardine and others in mate silk.

So, seeing apron dresses actually made me think that I got them made for 0.000001% of what MiuMiu will probably sell it for.

But then, it’s also the issue with this collection. Given the prices of MiuMiu, the position of Miuccia Prada, the socio-political background people loves to associate with her work to deem every creative decision of her as intellectual and the fact that fashion can be political and doing working class that has only be elevated with the addition of a tag….It can be offending.

The collection is decent because it’s simple, it works. It’s very Miuccia, full of references of her past work as usual and there’s a very real, terre-à-terre quality to it. But it’s extremely lazy and yes, the rage baiting makes it tone deaf.

She could have taken the working class thing by really elevating the whole thing, take it as a creative challenge.

I don’t know if we need a sense of realness on those type of clothes, presented that way in a audience where there are people who have maids, who makes them wear aprons and who will probably find it funny to buy a MiuMiu apron.

And it’s unsettling because I’m a privileged woman who have access to HF. It’s also totally hypocritical to think that buying fabrics and having that shape of dress made for me makes me better than someone who is going to buy it for 2K at MiuMiu…

And yes, this is not the first time she is doing it or the first one to do it. Sometimes designers have chose to play with it in terms of humor but there’s something too real about it to just be great from a pure aesthetic and frivolous way.

Next level chef? I do have a few aprons in the kitchen that will work well.

Btw, in the age of MAHA, I don't find it working class at all to cook our own food. I cook for my kids and I know precisely what goes into it. Cooking is fun!
Now, cooking in a miumiu Apron is a more "privileged" proposition though considering that my favorite apron was given to me for free by Barclays Capital 20 years ago in a client event.

Nara Smith must be delighted. She has a whole new collection for her tiktok videos.

Usual Miu Miu for which I do not care much. The whole Prada group has lost my interest the moment Fabio Z left.

I still wait Miuccia’s bow every season though. She is just the epitome of italian chic.

Yes! I also wear an apron to cook. Now it sounds like I’m living my life wearing aprons ahahah!
But yeah, I don’t know what was the creative thinking about this collection.

It’s not even about elevating humble fabrics or things like that. There’s this air of laziness lately at MiuMiu and because Lotta is used to that game, it just feels meh…

I’m waiting to see what the US press is going to say about it.
