If this is true, I hope Prada can escape the wrath of Raf. I love Raf as a designer himself but he at Prada is just so insipid and too cerebral. He should just do a Helmut Lang and make art for the rest of his years.

I think Miuccia made the right choice to co-lead and test his his abilities. No way is able to lead Prada womenswear, especially after that hideous FW2025 collection.

Miuccia is 75 (76 in May) and Prada isn't exactly some niche company that can just simply vanish into thin air. If Raf is leaving Prada, then it would really be a good idea to start think about succession plans.

I’m not sure if the rumor and the creative team reshuffling are related (not saying the rumors are invalid though). The new hires look more like Raf leaving his mark on the top level design team.

Surridge is replacing Janosch Mallwitz (Raf, Dior Homme/Men alum) who was head menswear designer from SS23-FW24. Meanwhile, he is another Raf alum (Jil menswear head 2007-2011) and is avaliable as LP preps for the alleged arrival of the Meiers.

Clemande Burgevin Blachman, another new Prada hire named in the WWD article, was part of Raf’s inner circle at Calvin along with Matthieu and Pieter and just started her newly invented role as design director of jewelry/textiles/home fresh out of her fashion accessories creative directorship at Hermes.

Ilaria Icardi in another newly invented position as designer director is also a Raf placement.
