I'd like to start Model of the Week, where we choose a model to discuss that week.

We go through their career and discuss favorite moments, least favorite moments, wax nostalgic on memorable covers, editorials, campaigns, anything at all to do with that particular MOTW.

The MOTW can be from any era, they don't have to be currently active, and all genders are welcome.

You can nominate a model by sending me a direct message, and I'll post the new MOTW every Tuesday. Or if there's a better way to choose a MOTW, let me know, I'm all ears.

I thought this might be a fun thread to start and continue the buzz of the forums while in between fashion weeks!

Also, if there's already something like this that I'm unaware of, mods feel free to delete. Or if it goes against rules or just unneeded, feel free to delete too haha:stuart:

I'll post the first MOTW momentarily to get this going.

I parasocially love Awar as if I am sixteen, a lonely girl in school addicted to escaping her real life via Twitter + Instagram and raving about models from the outside looking in, all over again. She brings a level of poise/elegance/class to the industry I don’t think either of us have seen from a model in a very long while - and surely not from any of her current peers. And just when you’ve thought you’ve seen it all from one, singular, face… she is equally as kind, joyous, and pleasantly entertaining as you would ideally imagine her to be around.

She’s every bit the type of model any one person in the industry would hope to work alongside, and we are all very lucky to get to witness it in any capacity at all.

@BalkaniStaCouture I’ll be patiently waiting for your response to this thread!!! <3 😘

Deserving of a big 4 Vogue cover but I don't think it will happen any time soon. The only Black models getting them now are Anok, Naomi, and Mona. Not even Adut is getting them since she came back. American Vogue has largely ignored Awar until very recently.

^I could see Awar getting a Vogue UK cover soon, not necessarily solo though.

She's a beam of light, I love her smile and her walk and she looks great in print. A force to be reckoned with!

She is regular in US Vogue so I can see her in a multi cover, but very realistically I can see her score silo cover of Vogue Italia by Meisel, Vogue UK by Alasdair McLellanand Vogue France by David Sims. At Vogue France I see her like Rianne van Rompaey very often. But knowing other editions she could get Vogue Brasil, Australia, Arabia, Adria & Netherlands soon too.

Look I LOVE Awar and I am keeping her thread like crazy. She is everything. Nice, poised, clever, humble, amazing in print and fierce on runway. I think I am the biggest cheerleader of this girl. In a world of amazing black models I only liked Naomi, Liya, Alek and Joan. But Awar has topped all. I know that Anok Yai, Jourdan Dunn, Waris Dirie, Yasmin Warsame, Arlenis Sosa, Beverly Johnson, Sesilee Lopez, Jeneil Williams, Rejoice Chuol and many others are there but for me AWAR is the one. I don’t recall that one black girl was working this much constantly for big brands and was this amazing!!! Love her! Her first Vogue cover I will buy at least 10 copies. She is L O V E ! ❤️🥹❤️

What's ya'll's favorite cover of hers so far?

I think mine's Harper' Bazaar France June/July 2023 by Mario Sorrenti

I like that one too, but also I loke her on M Le magazine du Monde October 28th, 2023 cover by David Sims. And very recent WSJ cover too.

I’ve come to really admire Awar over the last few months. I find her dynamic and commanding on the runway and a sweet energy that radiates from within. I’m looking forward to seeing more from her in the near future and interested to see how much of a push she will get from this past runway season. From the past few weeks alone, seeing her at Ferragamo and her closing moment at LV stand out to me (and of course her smile and clap at Chanel).

Hell ya Awar!! 🙌
My current favorite girl! Everything about her screams star! From dancing at the ss2025 Gucci finale to closing Chanel, the personality and star quality shines through. She deserves only the best come 2026!
