We already have threads for major searches such as Elite Model Look, Ford Supermodel of the World and V A Model, so I thought we could have one for the smaller ones too. So feel free to post/discuss model contests as long they're from reputable agencies, etc.

GIRLFRIEND/RIMMEL MODEL SEARCH 2009 (Australia)

Run by the teen mag Girlfriend, these are the national finalists:

- A two-year contract with Chic Management Sydney and Next Model Management New York.
- An all-expenses-paid trip to Sydney for the finalist’s fashion shoot.
- An appearance in two fashion shoots for Girlfriend mag.

Each national finalist wins:
- A two-year modelling contract with Chic Management.

SUPERMODELL 400 2009 (Sweden)

This contest was held around two weeks ago, in conjunction with Stockholmsgruppen Cosmetics and TV400.

The winner wins:
I don't understand Swedish at all, but from what I've managed to translate, I think the winner becomes the face of a product in their range, including having the product named after her, and signs a contract with Stockholmsgruppen Models.

In the UK there's the Sugar magazine contest.

It used to be the Sugar/Rimmel Model Competition, but they changed sponsors to Sure Girl (it's a deodorant brand lol) and the winner now gets a contract with Models 1 instead of Independent.

Last year's winner Emily Smith just placed 3rd in the Elite Model Look world final (third from left).

I think this was held during the end of August.

THE MUSE MODEL SEARCH 2009 (the Caribbean)

This was held on Thursday as part of the Islands Of The World Fashion Week.

The winners were Giovara Geertriuda (Curaçao) and Kendrick Kemp (Bahamas).

DELFI Modelių Atranka Fall 2009 (Lithuania)

I'm not quite sure if I have this right, but I think in this search the finalists win professional photoshoots, a contract with Image Group Vilnius, and a meeting with Next Milan. One of the girls is subsequently chosen by Next, and then another girl wins something through public vote.

Looks like John Casablancas and Jeremie Roux's new scouting network, Joy Star System, is gearing up to have it's own worldwide contest! Should be interesting if it all goes ahead...

At present time, Joy Model Management Saõ Paulo is conducting a major nationwide search in Brazil under the name BELEZA MUNDIAL. In South Africa, the contest operations have already started and its final is planned for mid-October. As of 2010, all JOY STARSYSTEM affiliates will be conducting a contest under a same name to be announced soon. The contest:
- will be held yearly
- will have an international final held in Paris yearly with substantial prizes in the form of financial guarantees for an international model career.

Interestingly it seems the prize has changed - usually they win a two year contract with Next NY, along with Chic, but this year it seems, as far as Next go, they just win a trip to Next NY (as in, just to see them?).
