False Hope! You said it!!! I dislike all "model searches" ... no, I actually hate them.
I believe them to be a way to get lot's of money from model "wannabes" ... and they don't offer anything of any real value in return.
Worse yet ... modeling conventions!! They promise agency exposure ... and some do have reps from a few agencies there, but most only invite agencies and the agents are just too busy with their own open calls to come to something like this. They already have wannabes breathing down their necks ... plenty of people to choose from.
The real word is that the agencies are often
paid to be there and then, they send some receptionist or mail clerk to meet the requirement, but you usually won't see agents/bookers there. Sometimes they are given air fare, food and accomodations to be there ... so they use that as a mini vacation. They are also required to "call back" a certain number of girls to meet a requirement but they
don't usually ever actually sign up anyone. Almost never. This I heard from a former agent/booker in the modeling business.
You can go to open calls for free at most of the agencies and for those that don't have them, you can mail pictures and your stats. It's cheaper and better, in my opinion. Save your money.
You don't need pro pictures, you don't need classes, you don't need to spend any money at all (other than postage and gas) to find out if you are model material. Anything else is a waste of your money. Period!!
Not that I feel very strong about this matter ....
