Model skin & body care tips / products

I hate the Clinique toner. The one that's part of the three step system. As soon as I wiped a little on it stung like crazy. I ended up having to stand under the shower with the cold water running for ages in order for my skin to settle down.

Christy Turlington once told me never to use Clinique. And my skin is so much better for that advice. That brand SUCKS.

And what did she recommend using? ;)

^ That was going to be my question too! If Christy Turlington told me to rub dog poop on mt face, I would!

Yikes , what strength were you using? The 1 system is very very mild iirc

Just to add my 2 cents worth. My derm si totally against the Clinique toner. She says it contains alcohol which strips the natural oil in your skin essential to prevent aging etc.

Cetaphil, huh? Does it really clear up blackheads (and keep them away?)?
Cetaphil cleans your face (with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate by the way). It is a good cleanser and derms seem to recommend it. But there are more gentle products that will work just as well. And this stuff won't clear up blackheads. Only something with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide will do that.

I have a really strange question to ask...I dont know how to describe it, well i am kinda tanned/dark olive skin and my knee caps are darker than the rest of my skin, is there any way to tone my knee cap colour so it would match the rest of my skin? its like my whole leg is one tone except for my knee cap which is darker, its a bit annoying especially when i am wearing something that reveals my legs. anybody know what i am talking about or have any suggestions? thank you:)

not a strange question at all ;) u could try exfoliating that area, I'm pretty sure that will work hope that helps.

Thanks hellenichermes:) is there anything you would recommend that I use as an exfoliate? do they show immediate results or not?

dilcisma, you might try using products geared towards african-american women for "ashy-ness". that might help.

cetaphil is apparently the mildest cleanser out there.

I just bought some Cetaphil after browsing this thread for some time. Most models seem to use it, so it's worth a try.

I've used cetaphil and still do from time to time. Although it was alright, I have acne and it didn't seem to clear it up as much as other products have. And I definitely needed to wash a few times to get foundation off. If I'm not wearing anything though, it's my first choice. I would reccomend it to anyone who doesn't have acne. If you do, you can still try it, but you might need more help.

There are people who break out very badly from it though. My mother being one of them. Just test it to see how you react. But you're not crazy if you have a bad reaction.

yea mine burns my skin too, and i totally believe what was said about it stripping important stuff from your skin. my derm said that the cleanser and moisturizer were great and said nothing of the toner so i guess he doesnt reccommend that lol

I have heard lots of dermatologists say that toner is unnecessary unless you have extremely oily skin. I never use it because my skin tends to be dry.

the only toner which worled well on my skin although it was drying, was Keihls' blue toner: it cleaned by skin deeply and left it baby soft, if alittle drying.

also, I have just read a beauty article where this woman named Linda Meredith, the woman who does Madonna- Kate Moss - Gwyneth facials, suggested not to use sun protection but make up instead as spf produts are chemical amnd she also said that most acne problems are due to polycystic ovaries, again due to all the chemicals in food, medicine, air and so forth.

any idea what that is and how to cure????
i might see my GP tomorrow to ask some more info, but they are not ususually very accomodating, if you know what I mean!

cric croc, i think not using a moisturizer with SPF is pure folly. makeup with an spf isnt enough! you might want to check Web MD before you go to your GP, cric croc. no use in getting too paranoid.

i just bought la roche posay moisturizer with spf 15. this is the first moisturizer on the market in the USA with mexoryl (a more broad range sunscreen that was previously illegal in the USA due to not being FDA approved).

has anyone tried this moisturizer?

From Allure: The uber-pharmacist Abby Fazio answers some questions:

Q: Have you picked tips from the pros who shop at New London?

A: Makeup artists told me about 24-hour Miracle Cream by Embryolisse, which makes skin supersmooth and firm like you've just had a facial and keeps foundation absolutely perfect and matte for hours. And hairstylists confirmed what i had long suspected: There's nothing better than Elnett, the same classic hiarspray my mother used. They buy cans by the dozen.

I'm pretty sure the Elnett hair spray is the gold can we see backstage.
