Model skin & body care tips / products

^ i keep hearing this bioderma stuff being brought up! i wonder if it's all that great. -_-

I used two bottles of this stuff and its good. Using it everyday kinda dried my skin though so its best to use a few times a week. I think its better as an stand-in cleanser when you can't be bothered at night. It takes about 20 million cotton wool balls to remove makeup completely, but it does remove it well.

You can get it from Leguidesante. Heres the link:

Thats the US Leguidesante. Theres also a UK one, leguidesante.co.uk

i read somewhere about pure witch hazel and models using that with cotton wool its a brilliant natural antisceptic and you can get it from most chemist pharmacies or drugstores even walmart/tescos. It doesnt burn or sting much and it really lifts city grime!

Witch hazel can be a bit drying on people with dry skin though. Its better suited to oilier skintypes. Its good at reducing spots as, like you said, its a natural antiseptic; just soak a cotton bud/q-tip with it and place on any spots you have.

From Vogue Paris April 2008 It's not perfect translation but at least you can see the products ^_^

From the marathon of fashion shows to far away shoots, how are the supermodels able to save their skin? Five of them reveal their infallible ritual.

I am not good in the morning. I must have a minimum of two hours to emerge with a cigarette and litres of coffee. My first beauty act is lip balm, which I abuse all year (I adore Nuxe), because I cannot support having dry lips. My reflex action after the shows is to oxygenate my skin with a good cleansing followed by Serum Eclat Cle de Peau Beaute, a light exfoliating liquid...After an evening, I use l'Eau de Beaute de Caudalie which makes my face as radiant as if i had slept fully. In the plane, it is no coffee, no alcohol, and a good layer of Creme de la Mer. Finally, I hate the gym. I had a coach, and I went each day for 2 hours and I never saw a result!

- Your first beauty act in the morning?
A shower with Gel Moussant Chanel and shampoo with Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco. Then I cover all my body with the cream Nutrix Royal by Lancome, which I am totally addicted to. And then, I feel myself ready for the day.

- A destressing ritual?
A glass of wine and lengths of the pool

- A cult product in your bag?
Two: le Baume Levres Hydratant / Hydrating Lip Balm by Chanel and Laura Mercier Concealer which I am never without, even on holiday.

- When do you feel best?
Smelling good. At the moment, with L'Eau Noire de Christian Dior Homme.

-An address for relaxing massages during a break?
Soho Sanctuary in New York, 119 Mercer Street, sohosanctuary.com

- Your morning ritual?
I recharge my vitamins and minerals, with salt crystals from the Himalayas, and a big glass of herb juices. Following that, an ultra hot bath which exfoliates my skin, and rinsing with ice cold water to activate the circulation. Then I cover my body with Dr. Hauschka Rose Oil and my hair with Kerastase Essence Emolliente Luminescente Chroma Riche.

-A cult product?
Two: The Creme de la Mer lip balm and a Guerlain Bronzer.

- Do you have a programme for preparing your skin for the stress of the fashion shows?
A magnesium cure, omega 3 capsules and Vitalzym (www.energeticnutrition.com), a cocktail of enzymes which give an incredible energy. Combined with photostimulation at Sonya Dakar.

- A little sport to sculpt your body?
Trampoline (I have one at my house), good for legs, Pilates, riding, stairs, and trapeze (which I discovered shooting for Vogue). I have always loved the circus.

My thing for resisting the stress of shows: chi gong (i'm not sure if this translates to something else in English ), each morning in my hotel room, or at the Shaolin temple when I'm in New York. My first act after the shows, use Crealine H20 and saturate my skin with something rich, like Embryolisse Milk-Creme Concentrate or Creme Criste Marine from Kiehls. I use only a little make up, but I always have in my bag Lip Shimmer and Maestro High Volume Mascara from Armani, two good bases in all circumstances.

-Make up to feel sexy?
A rose blush which shows pink cheeks (Powder Blush Rose Dame from MAC) and a touch of pearl highlighter (Glimmer Shimmer from MAC)
-What is your flight survival kit?
Organic creams: an oil to relax my skin during the flight (Huile Hydratante Bio de Nuxe) and an emergency mask to restore my skin (Nourishing Cream Mask from Dr. Hauschka)

What a fool.

Don't even think about it. Fruits are the best because they are carbs and they are high in fibres. I think that people tend to think that fruits are not actual food. Which is 100% wrong. You will get more energy from fruits than from a double hamburger and fries.

I agree that it would be tough to have just fruits and expect it to fuel an entire workout. I think so many people concentrate on eating a bunch of fruits on a diet but there are many sugars in those fruits. There's a reason that it's 2-3 fruits a day and 5 or more vegetables.

I think a more well-rounded breakfast should consist of some serious substance - fruits included - and some GOOD grains, like oatmeal and some protein.

Hey, does anyone know what that black spritzer bottle thing is in the photo with Lara? I keep seeing it backstage used on models. All i can make out is DA on it. I though it might have been Aveda but i checked the website and theres nothing thats in a black bottle like that :ermm:

^ you might want to check in the model behavior thread? a lot of the people that have all the gossip and post there have been backstage and may know?

^^It is Aveda...maybe it's a styling product that's been decanted into a larger bottle for use backstage? :ermm:

^
I knew i wasn't the only one who thought it was Aveda. I still can't seem to find it though; ah well. Maybe they have put it into a larger bottle, who knows.

Interesting. I wonder how many actual models adhere to that advice....:innocent:

I reckon aye!! when do you NOT see lilly and jessica without a coffee and cigarette. The key thing to remember is to have alchohol in moderation and drink pleanty of water to compensate.

It's a water bottle! lol I have to admit, I am obsessed with backstage and model beauty secrets, so I saw a snippet of that bottle, like in that picture, and was searching all of the aveda site and the pics on style.com and trying to find it on the , and I finally saw it, and it says something like "beauty is as beauty does, so drink up water is fantastic for you blah blah" The aluminum bottles are popular now, like the Sigg bottles, and they are friendlier to the earth, so I assume that is why Aveda had them backstage.

I remember seeing Claudia Schiffer at the latest show in Paris (fall 08), and she def. had FLAWLESS skin, it was SO amazing. I really wonder what does the trick. After the show I also saw her in the Chanel boutique in Paris (I kinda followed her with I saw her in the boutique, ha ha) but anyway, it's just incredible how good models skin looks especially considering how much makeup etc. they use all day. I don't get it, they must have a very good specialist all of them or a special routine, I don’t know!
