Model's Street Style

I feel like model's street style was really really good for a while, but now it's kind of waning. :ermm:

^It's lost of a bit of its freshness for me, as it's become almost as documented as celebrity style. I think models' style has also been hindered by the fact that they are more aware of being photographed in and judged by their regular clothes; when you're as young and "unformed" as most of them are, that culminates in competitiveness and a fear of criticism.

That said, I will never tire of looking at those models who wear the simplest of clothes. I can never get over how beautiful some of them are unstyled, in natural light.

I don't think it runs that deep, but keep in mind that we have been seeing the same pictures since the shows ended in october. It probably looks stale now because you are seeing the same thing over and over again.

I get the same feeling about the style waning. There are definitely some girls who just have style innately. They don't have to try, or at least they don't look like they try. Which is maybe why they look good. They can take the most random piece you thought was only for runway or editorial and make it look so good as street wear you almost don't look twice, but then you do because they just look good! But not like they're trying to get attention, it just works with their personal styles.

On the other hand, a lot of the new faces look like they are definitely trying lately. Maybe they do feel pressure or intimidated to look good and fit in and they just don't really get it yet.

I totally agree that the simplest looks work best. Sometimes interesting standout pieces or outfits look good, but most of the time it doesn't look like they got it right. I guess it's ok to experiment too though.:innocent:

Since the simple things look best, it makes me want to simplify it into a list. Feel free to add:flower:

generic model wardrobe:
-lots of black and grey
-skinny jeans in indigo shades, black, and grey
-legging and tights (footed and non)
-denim shorts and minis
- black leather jackets
-long loose cardigans
-vintage tees (often the only colored thing)
-men's white oxford shirt
-plaid shirts
-canvas sneakers
-ballet flats
-variety seen in heels, usually pretty hot and new

Hmmm... I dunno... what else do you see repeatedly month after month after page after page in this thread?

I agree  The basic waredrobe seems to consist of the same pieces  I add:
- Oversized bags or small clutches
- Ankle boots with or without heel in grey/black/brown

^ Thanks for posting :flower:

I totally agree about the "generic-model-clothes" that (almost) every girl seems to be wearing. But when I think about it....these are pretty much the things I'm wearing too (except the price is different :p). Just as many many other's. So, why should model's make an expection in this? After all they're "normal girls" too and this is just how they dress. I agree that girls like Iekeline are always refreshing to look at & I really  her for wearing special things that are actually outstanding. It would be great to see more people dressing like this! But I mean that in general, not only models. So for me, it's always nice to see what all these girls are wearing - even if it's quite repetitive & a "typical model uniform" ^_^
