Kristy Kaurova Major NY --> Woman NY

Major obviously dosen't know how to keep their promising girls.

^ it's hard to fault an agency like Major for losing girls. The girls want to go to greener pastures, better bookings, higher rates. It'll always be a struggle to keep girls onboard, as seen with other agencies like Ford, Elite, One, etc etc. Women obviously has a good thing going. It's smaller than IMG with arguably the best bookers in the industry and a very select high end board. The girls know whats good for them. A girl like Kristy would have seen the success of her peers during the show circuit, undoubtedly made friends with them, been jealous/envious of their bookings, and searched out her options. What's interesting to note is that had Kristy approached Women to begin with, I doubt they would have chosen to represent her.. but as per her recent success that Major has cultivated for her, surely they were happy to have her on board. Best of luck to her!

i don't get why sessilee is still with major. they take a girl with an italian vogue cover and take jobs like MAC campaigns- they obviously don't know how to handle her career.

Good to know mainstay :flower:
I bet Major is pissed now but I can understand that Kristy wants to make some money. She comes from Russia and has to support her family (just guessing).

@ Mad 0789 I have heard that her sister is her booker and her mum is the manager.Half of her family is involved in her career and with Major. It would be very selfish and mean if she would switch.

Major should be pissed because of all the money and time investiments in Kristy's career.
But i understand her motheragents of course, Major seems just not to be strong enough to be print-wise on the level of her runway-bookings. Assumed, just assumed, she'd just be getting very low print options from Major since fashion week is over, then i understand her switch. Time is money and Kristy & her motheragents can't really say how long she'll be working succesfully, so the immediate switch was understandable from Kristy's & her montheragent's point of view imo.

Poor major I feel bad for them but at the same time EVERYONE is ultimately looking out for their own best interest.. If an agency can't keep their best girls, they need to get to the bottom of the ultimate problem.. easier said than done though .. =/

don't models sign contracts? how can they just leave an agency?
Generally they do but there's always a 'get out' clause if the agency has not acted in the best interests of the model. Whatever the reason a model chooses to leave, it may be difficult and costly to legally challenge. Even the publicity of a challenge may very well increase the profile of the model which might be the last thing the dispossessed agency wants to do.

I feel like Major can't handle more than one high profile girl at a time. It's odd, given the connections they've surely created- Vogue Italia, Cover Girl- but it really seems like they focus all their time and energy onto one girl at a time, and right now that's Sessilee.

^ And that is lame. They should redefine their woman blog into "news about Sessilee" blog.

Yes, especially the ones who have snagged big campaigns and editorials; that's why I don't think rampant poaching going on. I think that the agencies losing the models are willing to let them out of their contracts, either free and clear or with a payoff or a revenue-sharing agreement. Of course poaching takes place and when the poached upon agency doesn't like it, they take legal action.

well said.
for top girls, switches are almost always agreed between everybody.
and in this thread, some agencies who"lost" the girl have actualy made better deal from money point of view than the agency where the girl went...;)

^ it's about time...Jourdan's absence makes a room for Women's new it-black girl ;) goodluck Ubah! :flower:

This thread is full of girls switching agencies who end up in a worse situation than they originally were in. Suvi Koponen, Meghan Collison, Tanya Dziahileva, etc.

A bit over 3 months ago Siri was with Trump and booking the occasional Allure editorial, Black Magazine, Zoo, Tush, etc .. In the short time since her switch to DNA in October she's debuted in W, made a comeback in Vogue Italia with Steven Meisel, made a comeback in Vogue Russia and been featured in Vogue Nippon.

That really shows how important the right management is and just how necessary that switch was for her career.

I think for some of those girls, it's too early to tell.
if you would have asked anyone about karlies success after switching to next they would have called it a failure after only 2 months.
now look at her.

i think we'll know after this show season...
