The Russian State Duma has a new draft law under review; it was drawn up by the legal working party supported by the Naked Heart Foundation

A group of senators in the State Duma have proposed a draft law, aimed at improving the quality of life for people with mental disabilities, and also at creating conditions that would make it possible for a child with impaired development to live a family life and reduce to a minimum the isolation such children suffer. The foundations for this draft law were drawn up by the legal group of the Centre for Curative Pedagogics, whose work has been funded since 2011 by the Naked Heart Foundation. Chairman of the Governing Body of the Centre for Curative Pedagogics, Roman Dimenshtein: “When this draft becomes law, it will help many children and adults escape residential care, which is practically unavoidable at present. For those who are already in care, the new law will make their lives easier because residential care homes will cease to be such closed establishments; moreover, the regulatory system proposed in the draft law will allow people to leave the residential care homes, which at the moment is virtually impossible: as a rule, anyone who is in a care home is there for good. Our country is gradually making the transition from methods of working which isolate people with special needs to supportive methods that will integrate such people into normal society. The new draft law will lay the legal foundations for a system of supportive care for people with special needs.”
The contributions of the legal working party of the Centre for Curative Pedagogics have been key to the new draft law. Lawyers Elena Zablotskis and Pavel Kantor from that working party commented: “Imagine your child’s school became her guardian, and it was the school that decided which clothes to buy her, whether or not she should have pocket money and whether or not she should have the right to go outside the school gates or to make friends. That is exactly how neuropsychiatric residential care homes for adults have worked up until now. Adults with mental disability have only been allowed to have as a guardian their closest relatives, if they resided with them, or the care home if that was their residence. The proposed law will open up other possibilities. In particular, the wishes of the adult with mental disability, as well as those of his family, will be taken into account when appointing a guardian. And the concept of shared custody will be introduced. This will enable other people (relatives, friends, volunteers), even organisations other than the care home where he resides, to get involved in running the life of the person with mental disability.”
All the proposals contained in the draft law are based on practical experience. The legal working party of the Centre for Curative Pedagogics, with the financial support of the Naked Heart Foundation, has for many years now been providing legal assistance to people with special needs and their families, and is very familiar with their problems and needs.
The Naked Heart Foundation and the Centre for Curative Pedagogics would like to thank all our colleagues who took part in the discussion and fine-tuning of the proposals contained in the draft law. We are especially grateful for the help given by those authoritative Russian lawyers in the Public and Legal Support Group of the Centre for Curative Pedagogics.

Doing Good On-The-Go: New App Elbi Offers a Deeper, Richer Charitable Giving Experience. Launched by philanthropist and supermodel Natalia Vodianova during the Clinton Global Initiative, the new online platform makes "doing good" a daily part of people's digital lifestyle

Elbi is a global giving platform that builds a digital dialogue between charities and their supporters

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Elbi, a new micro-philanthropy app, launches today, enabling people to do good on-the-go and give back to charitable causes in a range of new ways. Timed to launch during the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), Elbi was developed as a global giving platform that builds a digital dialogue between charities and their supporters. In seconds, Elbi users can create content, send messages, vote or donate direct to charities via the app, becoming micro-fundraisers for the causes they care about.
"Elbi is a platform that brings the power of social and digital worlds to charities and connects them with people around the world. With Elbi, you can do little actions that make a big difference – that is what Elbi stands for," says Elbi co-founder, philanthropist and supermodel Natalia Vodianova. "Eleven years with Naked Heart Foundation has taught me that small actions can make a big difference. So often these stories are lost. Now all of us can take action straight from our phones and make a difference all over the world."
Elbi creates a new model of two-way interaction between charities and their supporters. Users can receive live updates from charities through the app, which demonstrate the impact of their support and engagement. Charities can celebrate their favorite pieces of user-generated content in the Elbi app, recognizing the users directly, as well as leveraging that content for their work in the field. For example, users can draw a picture to cheer up a sick child in a hospital or create content for classrooms in small, remote villages. By enabling non-financial interactions as well as donations, Elbi lets users engage with charities in a far richer way than just sending money.
"Elbi is pioneering a new model of micro-philanthropy where little digital actions that make someone's day can be just as valuable and rewarding as sending money," comments Elbi co-founder Timon Afinsky. "This is great news for the love rich, time poor. Contributing on Elbi can take seconds and make an instant and positive difference to recipients."
Elbi works with charities approved by the Internal Revenue Service and Charity Navigator in the U.S. and the Charity Commission in the UK. At launch, more than 31 charities will feature on Elbi, including Save the Children International, DonorsChoose, Hope for Children and Glasswing, as well as several charitable partners from the CGI network, such as Oceana, Smile Train and Conservation International.
"Elbi is a true game-changer for charities and the causes they represent," comments Elbi CEO Eugenia Makhlin. "We bring engaged, active audiences together in one place, enabling charities to find new supporters and drive engagement and donations through a range of easy-to-use tools that let charities build custom campaigns. We want to create a level playing field for all charities globally – little and big."
The Elbi app is available on iOS and can be downloaded from the App Store in the U.S. and the UK.
App Features and Functionality

  • Campaigns – Approved charities can develop their own unique campaigns on Elbi that encourage users to take a specific action to benefit their causes.
  • Deeds – Each day, the app features three deeds that charities put to the Elbi community. Users can take action by drawing a picture, writing a message, taking and uploading a photo, or voting on options specified by the charity. Once completed, the charity will send short thank you notes to users, who will receive campaign updates from beneficiaries through the charity on Elbi.
  • Donations – Users can donate $1/£1 to any campaign on Elbi with a click of the Love Button. This modest but meaningful donation allows users to give and act regularly for the causes that inspire them. When the user first clicks the Love Button, the page diverts through Safari. Users are required to input their credit card details – this will be the only time they need to do so.
  • User-Generated Content – Users can click on messages/photos/drawings to view them full-screen, see the name of the person who created the content and donate to the action with the Love Button. Other popular content is curated in "Community Faves" on the app home page.
The Elbi board, members of which serve pro-bono, includes notable leaders in technology and philanthropy, including: Jimmy Wales, Co-Founder, Wikipedia; Arianna Huffington, Editor-in-chief, The Huffington Post; Baroness Joanna Shields, UK Minister for Internet Safety & Security; Michael Birch, co-founder of Bebo; Michael Acton Smith, CEO and founder of Mind Candy; and Chris Meledandri, founder and CEO of Illumination Entertainment.
What Our Advisory Board Says
Arianna Huffington: "Elbi provides an innovative, empowering mobile platform to help others. The Millennial generation is so eager to make a difference, and Elbi fits perfectly into their busy digital lives, giving them small but impactful ways to help others around the world. Nothing is more rewarding than doing good, and Elbi makes it easier than ever to feel good about giving back, while truly making a difference."
Baroness Joanna Shields: "Elbi enables young people to explore the power of "doing good" directly from their phones in a positive, inspiring and empowering way. By providing encouraging words and deeds to others in their time of need, they discover empathy and compassion and the positive impact their actions can have on others. Elbi is a wonderful journey of self-discovery. It's about connecting, helping others and feeling good about making a difference."
About Elbi
Elbi is a platform that leverages the power of social media and digital technology to connect people and charities from around the world. In today's world of digital connectivity, giving money shouldn't be the only option for making a difference. Elbi allows people to take daily action behind the causes close to their hearts. Elbi stands for little actions that can make a big difference. For each action people take or micro-donations they make through Elbi, they will receive an emotional reward in the form of an update from the charity, digital kiss from Elbi, and/or recognition from the community. When people give back on Elbi, it's no longer a one-way street. For more information, visit www.elbi.com

written by Julia Wiklander

On Saturday I had the opportunity to get a sneak introduction of Elbi – Natalia Vodianova’s new platform and app for micro-philanthropy.

Elbi enables you to “volunteer small moments of your time and give without breaking the bank”. The new app was launched at the Clinton Global Initiative today – with the aim of making it easy and accessible to do good in your everyday life, and to increase global connectivity with organizations that make a difference.

In this interview with Natalia Vodianova, she explains what Elbi is and her hopes for change by 2030.

The Elbi app is available on iOS and can be downloaded from the App Store in the U.S. and the UK.

Talk About Being Vain! V.F. Beauty's iPhone Video Series! Up Next: Supernova Supermodel Natalia Vodianova
BY SUNHEE GRINNELL

While in town (New York City) to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative 2015 about a new digital charity platform called Elbi, supermodel Natalia Vodianova was looking ever so sweet and sporting her "I ❤️ Elbi" button, to boot, and I had the chance to catch up with her to discuss who Elbi is, exactly, and to talk about her now "euphoric" life. And because her new Calvin Klein Euphoria fragrance commercial and campaign, both directed and shot by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin (more on the making of shortly on vf.com/beauty), will hit this Thursday nationwide in celebration of its 10th anniversary, I just had to ask ...

NATALIA VODIANOVA IS A SUPERMODEL CITIZEN
The model and philanthropist on beauty, finding balance and doing good.

Harper's Bazaar: What was the moment when you felt like you had made it in your career?

Natalia Vodianova: Maybe it was actually signing the Calvin Klein contract back in 2002. It's been amazing. The best part of work is always working with people and getting to know them and having the sense that you're not actually working.

HB: Now you're returning as the face of Euphoria Calvin Klein. When do you wear this fragrance?

NV: I wear fragrance when I feel that just makeup is not enough. I'm not someone who uses it daily, but when I do, I feel so proud that I remembered and almost like I treated myself because I work really hard. I have four children so in the end I'm the one that can get left behind.

HB: How do you balance it all—your children, charity work, modeling?

NV: It's all so different in a way that one is allowing for rest from something else. So when I work as a model, it feels like holiday. Doing a shoot is so light in a way that it's really a good break from being a mother or running a charitable organization and other philanthropic projects that I'm really passionate about. Because that's all very serious and sometimes it's not very glamorous and it is such a hard work compared to being a model.

HB: What's your biggest indulgence?

NV: Something to do with my hair. When I really treat myself, I go to incredible Leonor Greyl in Paris for a head massage.

HB: How do Russian women approach beauty differently than American women?

NV: Russian women are very friendly with makeup, almost too friendly sometimes. When I was a teenager, I remember I wanted to put so much makeup on—it was just a natural thing over there. Why they do it, I guess, is because historically, there were twice as many women as there were men after the World War II. I think 16 million people died during the revolution and 20 million during the war. That's a lot of men who were gone, so suddenly men became so precious indeed and it was a great challenge to find a husband. So, we laugh about it, but it's true when I say you cannot leave the house to take the garbage out without full-on makeup and your hair done. You have to fight for your man out there.

HB: What do you do for a big night when you want to feel your sexiest?

NV: I guess something shiny. Shiny eyelids, beautiful, glowing skin and lip gloss.

HB: How do you stay in such amazing shape?

NV: Pilates, but I'm now actually looking for a dance studio. I don't exercise very much so I'm thinking maybe if it's a dance studio, I would have a little bit more fun doing it and it would encourage me to actually go.

HB: What's the best way for people to get involved with your charity, Naked Heart Foundation?

NV: Naked Heart is the kind of organization where it's really hard to create an army of volunteers because we work with families who raise children with special needs. For these families and for these children, you need a very well-trained specialist, so donating so we can do our specialist training is the most effective way.

HB: Tell us about the new social good app–Elbi—that you just launched.

NV: At the moment, we're starting with three easy actions you can do everyday to discover the charities we're working with, which range from small organizations, like Smile Train, to larger ones. Smile Train is a charity that provides clef surgery to children and today we're asking you to draw a picture of a happy family for this boy who just had surgery and if you really love a charity, then you can donate a little money to it through the app. It's based on micro donations. You click once and you're done—you have supported the project and supported the charity. If you can't donate money, you can donate time and we support that. We already have 31 charity partners and of course we're going to have many more as the users grow. When we're encouraging charities to create campaigns on Elbi, we're telling them to be really authentic and do something that can be really useful to their beneficiaries.

Supermodel Natalia Vodianova talks dreamy Calvin Klein campaign, Naked Heart Foundation and new 'good on the go' app
Sep 29th 2015 3:04PM

After 10 years of beautiful euphoria Calvin Klein campaigns that immersed us in our deepest and dreamiest fantasies, Natalia Vodianova, the original face of the fragrance, returns in a passionate, fresh and truly euphoric global advertising campaign set on a stunning Hawaiian beach. Purchase euphoria here. Or, purchase euphoria essence here.

Supermodel and philanthropist Vodianova was the perfect choice to represent the sophisticated, dreamy fragrance complete with seductive floral undertones and a rich, creamy signature. Vodianova herself epitomizes "freeing the fantasy" with a thriving career, four beautiful children and her own charity, the Naked Heart Foundation, that she holds near and dear to her heart. The charity works to decrease child abandonment in Russia, builds parks and playgrounds in places that don't have the necessary resources and creates a network of family support centers for children with special needs and their families. The Naked Heart Foundation's official mission reads:"Our mission - to ensure that every child has a loving family, and a safe and stimulating place to play, the two things essential for a happy, fulfilling childhood. If each of us contributes, our children's lives can be transformed!"

The female powerhouse radiates beauty both inside and outside and her activism for those in need speaks volumes of her caring character. Paired with hunky male model Tyson Ballou, Vodianova gorgeously captures the essence of euphoria in this campaign.

In addition, Vodianova has a wide social media presence. With 820,000 Instagram followers, the supermodel appears to be living the dream as she posts inspiring pictures of her multiple Vogue, Elle, Cosmopolitan and Glamour cover shoots, her outings with female sensations including Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift, her involvement with the Naked Heart Foundation and her advocacy for her newest project, "Elbi," an app that enables people to do daily good deeds.

We were lucky enough to sit down and chat with the supermodel/philanthropist about shooting the campaign in such an inspiring setting, how she brilliantly balances her many priorities and how the fashion industry supports her charity work.

What was your favorite thing about shooting this Calvin Klein ad campaign?

Being in the tropical setting and actually being outside with real wind in the hair and real sand. I liked not having to fake the feeling of euphoria. It was shot on Eternity Beach in Hawaii.

Was there ever an awkward moment while filming the campaign? How do you stay so focused and in the moment with so many people watching with cameras on you?

No actually it was really easy! We just stayed focused and continued doing what was directed. I don't recall any awkward moments. The most awkward one was trying to walk in this huge dress! It was super long in the front as well as the back so I had maybe 10 people holding the dress up.

Is there something you always do to get in the zone before a shoot?

I get in the zone by putting the hair and makeup on. And just being in the atmosphere, once you're ready you feel like you are this woman. It's crazy and it always works that way no matter what you're being challenged to do next.

Talk to me about how you got discovered when you were 17! I read a little bit about your story and it's amazing.

I was going to a modeling school since I was 16 in my hometown. My boyfriend at the time was a model as well and said I should come and join the academy. I felt completely not set for it, but he said I would be great so I did it for a very short time for three months. I did one show and I made $50 and I remember that so well because it was huge money for me. The next thing I knew the agency called me and said there was an international scout casting. Long story short, eventually I ended up in Paris.

Do you get to keep any of the outfits you wear?

Sure! When I really love something or if I wore it to a very special project or something very close to my heart like one of my charity events, I usually keep it as a memory.

Will you tell me a bit about your charity work and what it means to you?

My most recent one is Elbi. I have my own charity, Naked Heart Foundation, and from experience with that I launched Elbi which is a platform that brings the power of the social and digital world to charities. Today we are all connected through these incredible devices through the Internet and social media, but charities are really lagging behind when it comes to embracing technology. We've created an app that helps them to connect with donors and beneficiaries.

You have both an amazing family and a crazy successful career. Do you have a trick or secret to raising four children in addition to thriving in your profession?

I guess the way I do it is I prioritize depending on where I'm needed the most. I try to maximize my time. When my children are at school, that's when I work. When I pick them up from school, I try to do everything with them. From bathing them to putting them to sleep and picking them up from school and being there for them. When I work, I work really really hard.

I see from your Instagram that you're friendly with Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift. These women are known for having a group of powerhouse female friends who all support and inspire each other. How would you say these women help and inspire you in your professional pursuits?

It's all about supporting each other. It's really inspiring when you feel supported. In fact, the fashion industry as a whole has been an incredible driving force behind the Naked Heart Foundation, my charity. The charity wouldn't be able to do this incredible work if we were not endorsed by the industry. The photographers donate their sittings, Mr. Valentino sold a wedding dress for 600,000 Euros at a Naked Heart Foundation auction, for example. And that's a lot of money and this is how we live and this is how we fundraise. Money can buy experiences for people who can afford it but who are also happy that they're not just throwing this money away. They feel good because they have a great show but they're also donating an incredible amount to charity for a very worthy cause.

What advice do you have for aspiring models trying to make it in the industry?

Work hard and be yourself. Be very nice because no matter how special you are, you're working with real people. In this industry in particular, someone who you think you can be a little catty with today might be in a very important position tomorrow and will remember how catty you were. He or she will be like 'I've seen that other side of you and I don't want to work with you.' So you have to be nice to everyone. It's an important thing to know because girls come in thinking they're stars and that they can treat people poorly sometimes and it doesn't work. That's not appreciated.
