Horrible news!
did she wear helmet?

***EDIT***

Just today I arravide fro Austin, I was at skii-ing trip and it was horrible to notice that only few people wore helmets...why? propably because they think they look stupid when wearing it. actually it could save your life.

^ Hopefully now people will me more safety-conscious while skiing, or while participationg in any sport for that matter. You never know when an injury could occur and a helmet could very well save your life.

Still can't believe this had to happen to someone so young, and such a good person. Things like this just make me wonder, why? Life just doesn't seem fair sometimes...:(

Yes, wearing headgear is an accepted part of the 'aesthetic' of horse-riding, so there's no reason why helmets cannot become an ordinary - even fashionable - element in skiing.

It won't protect against everything, but it could help lessen the effect of head injuries, and hopefully prevent more fatalities from happening.

why my text was edited?

anyway, I found out that she was not wearing helmet.... I am shocked since her fall could have not been as bad as it was on her now.
She was taking skii-ing lessons, why didn´t that doctor say anything to her.

Sorry but I am just so mad because she propably would not be death if she would have used helmet. or the injury would have not been that bad if she wore it.

my toughts goes for the family and her friend.

What a terrible tragedy!
My heart goes out to his family.

As I know, she didnt she fell but didnt take it seriouslly and after that she suffered from a contunsion, I hope that people start realizing how fragile our brain is after such a horrendous accident.

You were a little too harsh with your language, that is why it was edited. She made a mistake that she may have paid the ultimate price for. We can only hope that this tragedy inspires the use of helmets on the ski slope from now on. As tigerrouge mentioned, it should be possible to include helmets in the overall aesthetic.

RIP that is so sad, I wish her loved ones all the strenght in the world.:cry:

Like I said earlier, I do agree that wearing a helmet could have saved her life, but I was just reading People magazine and came across this paragraph:

Richardson's injury may have not seemed serious at first, but in some head trauma cases, appearances can be deceiving. Even if there were no direct impact to her head, the tumbling motion from a fall, or even a sudden stop, could have led to the tearing of a blood vessel in her brain, says Dr. Peter Kim, associate clinical professor of neurology at New York City's Columbia University Medical Center. "There's a brief window" - called a lucid interval - "when the bleeding is taking place [in the brain] but the person is not really aware of it," he says. The pressure then builds and can lead to irreversible brain damage. Would a helmet have helped? In the absence of a direct impact, "probably not," says Dr. Kim.

So yes, wearing a helmet is always a wise decision. But sometimes our bodies are going to work against us no matter what precautions we may take. Would most of us have worn a helmet while taking a beginners ski lesson? Probably not. No one can be blamed for this tragedy, it was simply an accident.
Such an extraordinary woman, may she Rest In Peace.

^What is Dr Kim's point? Natasha did die from direct impact she had a contusion and therefore a helmet would of definitely helped cushion and prevent her injury...the other type of "non direct" injury he was referring to can also happen from simple things such as getting your wisdom teeth removed (from all the tugging and pulling) or even dancing wildly ("head banging") at a heavy metal concert, so of course a helmet wouldn't help in those cases...

I think if people are going to fling themselves down mountains at high speeds, helmets should be made mandatory.
