I thought immediately of that film too; there are obvious similarities in the looks, although the woman she played in To Die For pretended to be prim, while this one doesn't look like she has ANY pretence in her.

Jeremey Irvine, Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman and Stellan Skarsgard hold a photocall to announce the start of filming The Railway Man on April 27, 2012 in Edinburgh,Scotland. The film, directed by Jonathan Teplitzky, is adapted from Eric Lomax's bestselling book, which is based on a true story. The ten-week shoot starts on April 30 on location in and around Edinburgh, moving to Thailand in late May ,and finally to Australia in early June.

Nicole Kidman films a scene for her new flick, The Railway Man, on Wednesday (May 2) in Bo’ness, Scotland.

The day before, the 44-year-old Aussie actress worked on scenes with co-star Colin Firth at a train station in Perth, Scotland.



The Railway Man is based on a true story about a victim from World War II’s death railway who sets out to find those responsible for his torture.

In the film, Nicole plays Patricia Wallace, the wife of veteran Eric Lomax, who wrote the memoir on which the film is based.

Truth, beauty, family. Editor Edwina McCann gets to know the real Nicole Kidman on location at BAZAAR's August cover shoot.

Nicole Kidman is no stranger to criticism. She faced plenty after the birth in December 2010 of Faith Margaret, a much-yearned for sister for Sunday Rose. Faith was famously born with the help of a “gestational carrier” as is the common term in the US. No doubt there will be those who throw yet more criticism at her for allowing her children to feature in photos in this month’s Harper’s BAZAAR. So I wanted to explain what happened behind the scenes.

Kidman was booked for our cover shoot with a young Australian photographer and regular BAZAAR contributor, Will Davidson. The shoot took place a few hours out of Sydney in a country home with a perfect red dirt road, as envisioned by Davidson. Kidman arrived on time, without entourage, and even spotted the crew not a coffee but a coffee van — “my treat” — when she was told the cost was beyond the shoot budget. She was a willing photographic subject, talked to me in an unguarded and genuinely warm manner before the pictures, and later waited obligingly until dark for a specific Gucci dress to arrive. (In the end the light was so low that the shot didn’t make the cut.) Later in the afternoon, Sunday Rose and Faith arrived after their sleeps to see Mummy. Kidman didn’t want to put them down; Sunday Rose donned one of the tuxedo jackets from the clothing racks because it was getting chilly. The photographer then took some shots of Kidman with the girls solely for her family album.

The June/July issue is on sale Monday 14 May.

With her new movie "Hemingway & Gellhorn" set to hit theaters on May 9th, Nicole Kidman pitched in on promotions by landing the cover of the June/July 2012 issue of Harper's Bazaar Australia magazine.

Set to hit newsstands on May 14th, this particular front page - which was shot by Will Davidson - features the 44-year-old actress joined by her 18-month-old daughter, Faith Margaret.

Dishing about having Miss Kidman bring her children to the shoot/interview, Editor Edwina McCann detailed the wonderful experience by saying, ''She was a willing photographic subject, talked to me in an unguarded and genuinely warm manner before the pictures, and later waited obligingly until dark for a specific Gucci dress to arrive. Later in the afternoon, Sunday Rose and Faith arrived after their sleeps to see their mummy. Kidman didn't want to put them down; Sunday Rose donned one of the tuxedo jackets from the clothing racks because it was getting chilly. The photographer then took some shots of Kidman with the girls solely for her family album.''

Realizing right away that she'd hit the jackpot when it comes to the photos that were taken, McCann told, ''They [the pictures] say so much more about Nicole Kidman than anything I could write in words. They are magic, raw and full of intense love, and clearly show her devotion to her children."

Thanks to a little coercing on behalf of Edwina, the "Eyes Wide Shut" actress agreed to allow Harper's to use the family shots in the magazine.

Explaining the reason for doing so, Nicole said, ''I think it's OK, because you can't see their faces; they're still protected. I feel it's a really lovely way to celebrate being a mum and being a family, and they're my daughters, and they're Keith's daughters [laughs] … you can see the hair!''
