NYC S/S 07 Show Schedule

from fwd...

Today Kenneth Cole confirmed to The Daily that he will not stage a runway show come Olympus Fashion Week. In a statement released by his spokeswoman, Cole said, “In lieu of our customary Spring 2007 fashion show at Bryant Park, this season, we plan to debut our Kenneth Cole New York collection in a more intimate manner, in our offices for editors and key wholesale and retail accounts. As we continue the repositioning of our brands, it is our belief that this approach will allow for more direct interactions, and for us to tailor the presentation to the individual interests of our guests. We will still have a presence at the Tents this season and we plan to return to the Tents for Fall 2007.” Cole has staged his twice-a-year fashion shows at the Bryant Park Tents for the last four-and-a-half years.

Cole’s highly anticipated show has been a mainstay of New York’s Fashion Week for years. Fern Mallis, vice president of IMG Fashion, which owns 7th on Sixth, confirmed that John Bartlett will now open Olympus Fashion Week on September 8 at 9 a.m.

“They let us know very early on that they were going to take a hiatus from the runway,” Mallis said, adding that she had been notified immediately following February’s show. “We support Kenneth to do whatever is right at the moment and we are working with them to maintain the connection. We’ll welcome them back when they’re ready to come back.”

In lieu of a runway show, a spokeswoman for Cole said that they will host a formal editor’s presentation at their westside studios on October 18 and 19. Retailers and buyers will be invited to the presentation on October 17.

"Kenneth wanted it to be more one on one," a spokeswoman for the company said. "But we've secured our spot for fall 2007 and will once again open New York Fashion Week."

Yeah, she's a Dane...based in London though. I don't know the reasoning though-whether personal or mere business venture....but last time she had the most unique presentation of NY. An installation set in a small space with 360° mirrors.

I think you guys will like Patrik's collection much better this season. He's beginning to mature alot. Still alot of jersey but I think it's stronger than the previous seasons.

no kenneth cole is a surprise...:o
but i don't blame him...he has been kicking off fashion week for years now and it ALWAYS seems to rain !!
NO ONE ever wants to get up that early for the first show of the season-especially in the rain!!...
so i don't think the turn out was very good for him recently...
...

it was so funny- i kept looking for Karl on the calendar when i got it...
and then i found the article about them closing the business....so i was like..."well- there's the answer!!''...
