Are there any online posing guides in the form of webpage, PDF, video, etc which are useful to teach couture poses? I can find nearly anything but no luck with this.
I doubt this exists...I'd say you sould just browse around on tFS, visit the threads of the high fashion magazines, models and runway shows and you will find out what couture posing all is
I am having problems with models not knowing how to pose and I can't turn every photo shoot into a posing class. I am hoping there is something I can send to them so they can learn on their own before a shoot.
I really can't be the only photographer having this problem!
I think their advice was actually really useful. A book benefits a model no better than a magazine would really. If they see the images from the magazine, they can imitate the poses in the mirror to see how it would look on themselves, and perfect it, that way they can memorize it when they shoot.
What you can do is browse the magazine threads here at tfs, and if you see any particular photos of poses you like, you can email it to the models and let them practice on their own..because of course you can't be expected to turn it into a posing class, you can only make suggestions and the model must take and learn from that. If they can't do that then maybe that means its time to look for another model.
a) I can't send out 50 magazines to every model with 1 or 2 poses per magazine marked up
b) Going through so many magazines to find a good set of poses would take a huge amount of time, so it doesn't really solve the problem, it just replaces one time waster with another
The point of a book or posing guide would be to have it all in one place, ideally on a website or PDF file so it can be freely shared, and I must say I'm really surprised something like this doesn't exist but I haven't given up yet
Well, tFS is for free....send them the link to this forum and make them, browse around. If they visit the threads of different Vogue magazines or Numero they will instantly see how the real big time high fashion models work. And I think that as a photographer you can always direct them from behind the camera. And if they are incapable of couture posing then it might indeed be time to look for other models. I hope our advices will work
