hmmm...no picture online, it's about a year old- it's a black leather shoulder bag with luggage tag, wide leather strap, two zippers on each of the sides...i'm not sure what the specific style is, but if you have the book 'the fashionista files,' one of them has it in red and there's a picture in the book! mine doesn't have the chains on the handle though. i love it!

is it the one on net-a-porter? those are very cute!!

Not completely on topic, but I started browsing some of the links mentioned, and came across this

I have a bag exactly like that (without the patches of course), got it from my uncle who used it when he went fishing!!! It costs $110! :o That's outrageous!!!

And these, they are pretty cute, but how hard can they possibly be to make? I think I will ask my grandmother to knit me up a few :innocent:

mamieg.jpg

They are marked at $180!

grechen...i know exactly which bag you mean...it's great~!...i came very close to buying that one last year at bergdorf...but my little fashionista friend bought it instead...

LOL...
i love the luggage tag bit...and it's nice and subtle ...no screaming logos... ;) :D

i love this bag!!

Yeah, but it's definitely not worth $110. You could probably get one just like it at some army store for $10 and just put some patches on it yourself ;) I used to wear mine in high school, I had it decorated with silver studs :innocent:

i've been to rotterdam...i know exactly where it is...you're lucky to be so near antwerp and amsterdam... there are many on this forum who would envy your proximity to all the belgian designers... :flower:

rotterdam is very interesting for the architecture...i actually stayed at the hotel ny when i was there...which was in a beautiful old building...i also really love the white bridge...what's it called?...oh yes...erasmus...looks like dental floss... :P

i believe we have a few other members from your part of the world lurking around here somewhere...did you introduce yourself on 'the spot'?...why not take a moment...?

How nice Softgrey! The city itself is terrible for shopping though, some nice shops but a 1 hour train ride takes me to Antwerp and it's over there where I get the party started! I just love Dries!

yes, YOU could probably do that, but I could not. I am sooo not creative with things like that, it makes me nervous to even think about it diy. that's why i love to browse through all the indie designer/crafty sites - to find things i could make myself if i was crafty but would rather buy!

Activeendeavors.com
Don't equate activewear with boring here: The casual clothing selection on the site, as in the Chicago stores, is super-stylish. All the essentials are here (and there's a particularly good selection of jeans and tees) for dressed-down Sunday brunch (Ellas Moss, Grey Ant) and office-chic (Vince, Capitol Tailors) looks.

Mousseshop.com
It offers quirky, stylish accessories with European flair. The site is refreshingly pared-down and easy to navigate, and everything feels like it's been hand-picked.

Beautyhabit.com
Makeup lines are limited but well-selected, and products for skincare, hair, bath and body are abundant. Also find fragrances, candles, and more. Lines are a mix of new and tried-and-true, including Dr. Hauschka, Molton Brown, In Fiore, Lulu Beauty, Burn, and Lavett & Chin.

Bluefly.com
Discount shopping online just doesn't get better than this: Find great designer clothing and accessories from the likes of Prada, Diane von Furstenberg, Gucci, Theory, and more. Searching by size and designer is a snap. Stock is constantly replenished, but you'll want to log on as soon as you get an e-mail alert for the best chance at new snapping up new arrivals.

Ebay.com
This mammoth site features such a staggeringly huge section of everything we could possibly want. And it keeps getting easier to navigate and find what you're looking for. The "buy it now" feature sometimes takes the thrill out of the auction game; then again, it's pretty satisfying to click and get it without the worry. Site registration offers perks: everything you're looking for on one page, notifications of available items, and more. It's a collectors' heaven (memorabilia, kitsch, vintage), but also a great source for clothing that's new (with the tags still on) and gently worn.

Eluxury.com
Luxe online shopping at its finest: The stock here is from biggees like Dior and Vuitton. It's a good gift destination, too, with high-end beauty products from Santa Maria Novella and candles from Diptyque.

Figleaves.com/us
For sexy (La Perla, Roberto Cavalli), sweet (Mary Green, Princess Tam-Tam), and practical but not too plain-Jane (Barely There, Jockey), you can't beat this comprehensive site for lingerie. You can shop for swimwear, too.

Fredflare.com
Fred rules! Seriously, we'd be hard-pressed to name a site that's this much fun. Adorable and affordable accessories include heart locket pins, guitar pick earrings, and bright, whimsical totes. The addition of an expansive tee shop is even more reason to shop. It's the best place to find kitschy, groovy gifts, from retro games and toys (a log cabin kit, bright plastic record player) to books ("How to Be Popular" manual).

Girlshop.com
Though you'll find some recognizable names here, this is a hotbed of designers on the rise. New additions are added weekly—sometimes daily—and we check in regularly to see what's new and often search by designer. There's always something to tempt us, especially jewelry and other accessories. Also check out sister sites for guys (guyshop.com) and kids (totshop.com).

Goclothing.com
You can count on this popular site for basics from lines we count on and new or hard-to-find ones, too, from Nanette Lepore and Nicole Miller to AG jeans and Foley + Corinna.

Lekkerhome.com
The online extension of this favorite Boston home décor shop offers a broad range of stylish items that are both practical and decorative. The stock is ample, and features mod, colorful, and clean items for all rooms. It's one of our favorite gift sources.

Lisakline.com
Lisa Kline's boutique in Los Angeles has a devoted following of super-cool, laid-back, but still very sexy and stylish West Coast girls and the site offers the same with its colorful and comfy separates from Juicy, Capitol Tailors, Eisbar, Vince, and more.

Mightyflirt.com
This site offers a split between fashion and accessories from indie designers and vintage. Of particular note: edgy and unusual tops, and jewelry from some favorites, including Fancy and DedeMetal.

Overstock.com
Get it here before it's gone. Overstock on fashion and home items is turned over fast and you'll be surprised at some of the deals. Think of it as an outlet center, without the crowds.

Purpleskirt.com
You can find a little bit of everything for a chic and casual wardrobe, including separates from Marc Jacobs and Rebecca Taylor, jeans from Paper Denim and Cloth, accessories from Patch NYC and Jamin Peuch, tees from C&C and Velvet, and beauty products from Delux and Pacifica. The signature line features cute beaded coin purses and tees. Sign up for the "My closet" feature for e-mail tips on arrivals in your size and preferred style.

Ravinstyle.com
Browse by category or designer, or use the rather cutesy tool of searching by the style of animated model/stylists "Ravin," Lela," and "Jackie" to find virtual selects of different looks, from sleek to girly. The selections are fun and well-assembled. Some NY favorites: A. Cheng clothing and Bambina di Cioccolato purses.

Redenvelope.com
This site designed specifically for gift-giving doesn't disappoint. It's a regular destination for baby gifts, and monogramming and engraving options.

Sephora.com
It's the obvious beauty source, and in this case biggest does really mean the best. The stock is overwhelming but the site is easy to navigate.

Shopbop.com
The focus here is on clothes, and the selection keeps growing and growing; we've whiled away the hours browsing for the latest from Marc, Catherine, Rebecca, Ella, and more.

Virginthreads.com
Indie designers are the focus of this site, which is updated regularly with new items. It's easy to search by catgeory or designer (or price range). We've found rockin' jewelry from Kimberly Baker, cute clutches from Bags & Whistles bags, and handpainted ballet shoes by La Voleuse.
