Oscar de la Renta F/W 09.10 New York

I don't think it's that bad, I like some of it. Just doesn't look very ODLR. So many beautiful black models, that purple dress near the end looks so good on dark skin. Surprised not to see Chanel, tho.

I like black outfits and that's all. Colorful pieces look tacky.

Exceptional evening wear as always, the dresses on Raquel and Jourdan are too gorgeous for words! And many gorgeous colorful cocktail dresses too!

lol i always think its funny when they put lily in clothes with an emphasized shoulder. its like "uh...she is good in that department"

It's neat and pretty. But it's so boring I wanna jump off a bridge. I HATE the hair, designers need to drop it and accept the fact that NO woman will wear her hair like that.
The outfits aren't ugly, just repetitive and completely unoriginal.....kinda typical really, but I was still expecting something better from him.

I like the biggest part of this collection. Some looks are hideous, but over all it's quite good. De la Renta is alwas chic and classy.

The prints are horrible as is the hair the whole collection is just blah, nothing stands out in a good way.

I like the gowns and a few other things, but everything is just a little too over the top for ODLR.

I noticed he began to absorb something from other brands( Prada, Miumiu,Burberry etc.)
there are more elements in this season than ever...

In going with the 80s theme. Oscar De La Renta revisited something that he was known for and that is the idea of over the top.

Repetitiveness is the real reason why this Master is still in business. Changing course on what works, is the reason why many of the biggest names are no longer in business. It's about the customer, not the editorials.

ok, forget it.
I like the gowns, but the rest is just so, so ocker. Can't find an English word to describe it. But an Italian one: The rest looks Gucci...

You take that back on the Gucci nonsense. There is nothing Gucci about this collection. :innocent:

yeah there isnt anything gucci here , Oscar does the sames style of clothes season after season ,thats how he survived, I respect that from the other NY designers who just copy Balenciaga/Givenchy/LV /YSL

And what do you call Dior?
Dior's become tacky as well, just in a different way.

But this is tacky. It has none of the taste or sophistication I would normally associate with an Oscar de la Renta collection. It's more heavy handed than usual, and given the slightly more youthful, light spirit his collections of late have displayed, this is a let down.

It pains me to say this about an ODLR collection, but this is just...bad. The hair, the colours, the prints, it is all too distracting and overwhelming. I see Lanvin, I see Chanel, but very little of the ODLR aesthetic/spirit, which is surprising! His clothes are always so recognizable, but looking a these, I personally wouldn't have guessed he was the designer.
