I think that this really shows Owen's acting talent because his happy demeanor never showed he was hurting so much on the inside. it is really a tragedy when anyone resorts to suicide. I wish him the best on his recovery!

Exactly. I was watching Entertainment Tonight (okay, so watching it is probably just as bad, but there was nothing else on at the time) just now and as you can imagine they reporting on this left and right (and enjoying all the press)....The biggest WTF though was when out of nowhere, Jennifer Love Hewitt comes on to wish him well. There were no other celebs, just her.

I hope he'll get the help he needs. It's sad to hear about this.

Jackson Visits Troubled Wilson

Movie star Samuel L. Jackson was among the well wishers who visited Owen Wilson in the hospital on Monday. The Resurrecting The Champ star was in no mood to chat to the press gathered outside Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai Medical Center when he arrived to spend a little time with his ailing pal, who reportedly attempted to take his own life on Sunday. Jackson growled, "I came to visit Owen Wilson, get the f**k away from me. Why are you guys here?" Wedding Crashers star Wilson was reportedly found by his brother Andrew at his home in Santa Monica, California on Sunday. Sources claim he cut his wrists and took a number of pills. The 38-year-old star was taken by ambulance from his home to the emergency room at St. John's Hospital at midday on Sunday. He was later transferred to Cedars Sinai.

This might be a random sidenote...but didn't Owen Wilson write that scene? I thought he and Wes Anderson co-wrote that movie?

^ That sounds like a horrible rumor used to start even more drama. I wouldn't believe anything unless it comes directly from him.

I doubt he's talking to people about what happened. If he did it would be his closest family and I doubt they talk to the press...so most likely a rumour.

I'm surprised but then again I'm not. I think a lot of comedians seem to wrestle with inner demons and battle with drugs,alcohol and depression. I don't know if the comedy is a way of covering for their "normal" state or a method by which they think that they can get better.

Owen doesn't strike me as a happy go lucky type of guy - there always seems to be something deeper going on with him behind the scenes. I imagine whatever problems he has have been present for a long time and he reached is breaking point. Hopefully this will get him the help he needs rather than being something that people constantly bring up about him for the rest of his life.

I agree. People often use humor as a means of masking things that are truly troubling them. I hope that whatever Owen is dealing with he finds the strength and is given the privacy to deal with in it. The press really ought to back off during times like these - media scrutiny can't help one bit.

He's so talented. I've seen like all of his films and read his screenplays with Wes. I just really wish this weren't such a public thing. There is no reason why anyone outside of his immediate family should know about this.
