House Of Boateng
Your new favorite fashion show

Thursday, May 11, 2006

(NEW YORK) “House of Boateng,” an eight-part documentary series tracking European designer Ozwald Boateng’s foray into the U.S. market, will premiere on the Sundance Channel on Thursday, June 22 at 9pm, and will run every Thursday night through August 10.
Boateng, who earned his stripes as a renowned Savile Row tailor and serves as creative director of menswear at Givenchy, has outfitted celebrities like Jude Law and Mick Jagger in his traditionally fastidious yet modern and sleek suits. After winning over London, his efforts have shifted to his launch of the bespoke couture line in America.
The TV series deals with the strain of finding a financial backer—a challenge all too common in the fashion world. Another episode will follow Boateng as he dresses celebrities for gala events—another often nerve-wracking and thrilling occurrence for many a clothier. All this, topped off with balancing his personal and family life across the Atlantic, is bound to offer an emotional glimpse into the world of a burgeoning fashion designer.

I'm sort of interested in this. No so much in HIS work but having another look into the industry and gaining some insight is always worthwhile.

This sounds like it could be interesting. I almost always love a well-made documentary regardless of the subject.

I hope they show it in the UK!!!I ABSOLUTELY WANT TO WATCH IT!!! HIS CLOTHES ARE AMAZING!!!! would be nice to watch such a documentary to gain some insight into the industry.

oh wow thanx for sharing the news zamb!! my guy friends are all about his suits - the color, the cut... i wonder if he'll try to get into women's fashion in the U.S.?

i'm glad it's gonna be on sundance channel b/c they really know their stuff re: docs so you know it's not gonna be just a fluffy show. can't wait!!

Can a mod correct the thread title?

There's a typo (Oswald vs OZwald)

:P

Tks in advance!

PS There's so much hype about him ... I mean ... his stuff is decent ... but I dont find anything ... erm... special about his designs?

I love Givenchy Homme! Im going to buy some stuff from them too :D

i'd love to watch this, but i don't have sundance unfortunately. i'm more interested in his brother (or cousin?), who's also a designer...

Me too, there's no doubt that his designs are made to the highsest standards in tailoring but that's all I like about them.

http://www.sundancechannel.com/boateng/

it doesn't have too much going on right now but i bet they'll keep updating with new stuff - you can watch a promo and that boateng looks yummy in his orange suit!!

so this may be old news but i just came upon this article on The House of Boateng. fashion daily is basically predicting it to be one of this summer's best shows - always good to have the expert's backing! now i'm even more curious and will definitely check this out...

has anyone else seen anything else about the show?

Looks interesting. I was coming to post the Sundance link. It's on tonight!!

There are now some episode photos up.

I can't wait! I think this will be a very interesting show.

(I'm on the West Coast. It might be on at 6pm instead of 9pm here? Hope so as that's three hours earlier! )

I can't wait to watch this. At a time when I'm ready to start my future as a designer this series will hopefully prove inspiring.

P.S.: silk skin paws, I LOVE THE MARS VOLTA!!!

awwwww man!!!!!!! Since we moved into our house...we haven't gotten cable yet!!! This is just wrong!!! I want to see the documentary. I hope it comes on dvd!!!

^^ sorry to hear that!! just caught the first episode last night and it was very promising!! i liked the way it was shot with all the behind-the-scenes details. am really interested in how it turns out just having helped a friend launch her handbag business (though not on the scale of Boateng...).

anyway, you can catch the episode guides on the official site and some scenes from last night's show too so hope you get to check it out!
