(NEW YORK) “House of Boateng,” an eight-part documentary series tracking European designer Ozwald Boateng’s foray into the U.S. market, will premiere on the Sundance Channel on Thursday, June 22 at 9pm, and will run every Thursday night through August 10.
Boateng, who earned his stripes as a renowned Savile Row tailor and serves as creative director of menswear at Givenchy, has outfitted celebrities like Jude Law and Mick Jagger in his traditionally fastidious yet modern and sleek suits. After winning over London, his efforts have shifted to his launch of the bespoke couture line in America.
The TV series deals with the strain of finding a financial backer—a challenge all too common in the fashion world. Another episode will follow Boateng as he dresses celebrities for gala events—another often nerve-wracking and thrilling occurrence for many a clothier. All this, topped off with balancing his personal and family life across the Atlantic, is bound to offer an emotional glimpse into the world of a burgeoning fashion designer.
