Ozwald Boateng: The Documentary

wow. he's pretty full of himself huh??

I wonder who the "mean male model" was. Anyone know???

The cut of clothes are nice, during the show, but two things REALLY bothered me. Those "monk" like neck coats and those hideous colored suites.....yellow, orange etc. So International Male gone bad.

I love how it was about more than just the fashion show, you see how confident and dedicated they all are to make some really smart, sharp clothes that are mature and wearable. There are no gimmicks and the designs don't exclude because you dont like rock and roll; it reflects more accurately on the diversity of London and doesn't have a limited opinion on masculinity. I just don't know how well those things would translate here into America, men here don't know Savile Row from Sesame Street...

i was realy looking forward to this, I love Ozwald. i don't always like bright coloured suits but i know his work is much more than that.
personally i didnt like the first episode, i did'nt think it revealed anything interesting or important. Maybe its me, probably what i'm looking for wont be revealed in this documentary.
anyway...........it is really too early, just the first episode, i will watch some more before i come to any conclusions about this

I totally agree. I saw some stuff that really interested me, and I can't wait to see more.

i watched it and not to put a damper on anything, but i was extremely bored and turned the channel!
i think my life is way more interesting! lol...
i guess if it were womens wear, maybe i'd have more to look at...

well i think maybe we are more sophisticated than the general public who might watch the show - meaning we know more about Boateng and his works. :P i think the first few episodes are probably structured to appeal to a broader audience than just us fashionistas, introducing him to the audience.

apparently the next episode is all about him trying to find prime real estate for the new store in LA...should be interesting.

I just hope it doesn't turn into the fashion version of "Blow Out", and that he doesnt have an attitude like Jonathan Antin..............because from the first episode...............it kind of seems like it could go that way.

Yeah, I love the cut/tailoring. I think he looks good in colors 'cause he's so dark. These look good on him

Yeah..he carries it off very well.

He has the prada watch too.

So he's going to try to open 5 stores in the US in a year and a half????

I watched, i find it very interesting. I never knew about him until Sundance.

^^ what'd you think of the show? it's hard to carry a lot of info in 30 min but the sundance channel - with their experience in documentary filmmaking - does a good job packing it in. finally caught up on the second episode!!

Yeah...I wish it was an hour long show. I think you'd see more of his personality.

I like that he is so determined and has worked really hard to get where he is, and is set to work even harder to make his dream come true. I really admire that about it.

and he seems to have a great support staff, people that believe in him etc.

so last night's episode was fun - watching the show he put on at pompidou (lots of hot clothes and models...drool). i loved everything in that collection, especially the clean lines in all of the pants and the camel coat. i also like the idea of bringing his kids to work so they know what Boateng's doing when he's not around them - it definitely gives them a sense of their father's work instilled early on.

having seen the first three episodes now, i think the best thing about the show is that even though it is ultimately about Ozwald Boateng, it reveals behind-the-scenes comments and scenes about the Givenchy and the Bespoke labels from multiple perspective - magazine editors, friends, stylists, CEOs, creative and fashion directors, models, etc. etc. so that it really feels like we get a round-up of how the business is run rather than just focusing on one person who represents the label.

i have to say episode 4 had some of the more humorous moments in the series - did u guys catch it? basically he's now in NYC trying to hire some PR people and coping out real estate space, and it seems like things aren't going exactly right in Milan where he has a show coming up.

SPOILER

anyway, he interviews this girl for a PR position - she claims she has worked with Rachel Weisz (i don't really believe it...), etc. but then goes on to admit that she used to be a talent agent, got burned out, and then became a tarot card reader - that's not the most ridiculous part - during her "drug" experimenting phase. the expression of Boateng's face was priceless!!

i found a clip of that scene - i had to watch it again to make sure that i was hearing what i thought was hearing haha...i wouldn't exactly volunteer in a job interview that i had any kind of a drug episode at whatever point of my career... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma2P2dpPNzc
