OT but i propose anderson cooper for prez!

i think i'll pick up that issue of us weekly too.

^ I never thought I would respect US Weekly and used to shamefully pull it out of my mailbox, but now I don't feel so guilty!

the reason why US Weekly decided to stop having paris gossip is NOT because they are sick of her. Apparently, US Weekly and People are owned by the same company, so they decided to have one of the magazines exclude her, so all the people that want to hear the gossip will buy People, and the people who are tired of it will buy US Weekly.
smart move on their part considering how much attention she's getting lately-good or bad

^ I have never heard that US and People are owned by the same....
Do you know where you heard that or who the company is?....

i never thought id say this... but i always found paris deliciously vile and entertaining in a tacky trashy way that only herself would understand (since i am convinced she is the best PR machine in the world for the past years). so to reach the point where she officially BORES me and doesnt interest me anymore even in a voyeuristic way is beyond me.
yes, i do come to this thread every now and then but the actual coverage of our trashy PR queen and her whole jail ordeal and that walking out of prison pics make me yawn!
its not cute, funny or entertaining in the least trashiest way anymore:sick:

Kathy, Rick, Mick, Barron, Shmarron and the SIssies...or whatever you are called: get a real life!!!

I heard about that anchor that tore up/tried to burn the story on air, and all i can say is that she was obviously looking for publicity herself: obviously if you do that at the height of the news cycle you are going to get extra press for it. i feel angry that people have fallen for it.

I agree that the news anchor probably did this in part because she wanted publicity for herself. However, I feel angrier that people have fallen for all of these spoiled young starlets, thus creating a society that gives more media coverage to Paris Hilton than to the war in Iraq. :(

than to the war in Iraq.

That was never that important. But there are other issues that should be followed more closely than a spoiled airhead bimbo.

I really don't get the story... She went to jail, acted her way out, and went back???
anybody?

the story that just won't die...

The Sheriff's Department opened an investigation Thursday into allegations that Paris Hilton received special treatment during her 23 days in jail for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case, authorities said.

The internal probe will examine whether the hotel heiress was given free access to a cordless phone instead of being forced to wait in line to use a pay phone at certain hours, sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Also under scrutiny are claims Hilton received a new jail uniform instead of the recycled ones given to many inmates and that her mail was delivered by a captain instead of inmate trusties, Whitmore said.

The allegations were brought to the attention of the department's union, the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, by its members, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday on its Web site.

Whitmore said the claims differ from the department's own information about Hilton's incarceration.

"We're going to investigate it and get to the bottom of it and find out exactly what happened," he said.

A message left with a Hilton spokesman late Thursday was not immediately returned.

The department was also accused of granting Hilton special treatment when Sheriff Lee Baca released the 26-year-old from jail after only three days for medical reasons. She was sent back to jail after one night

not true. Wenner Media Inc published US Weekly (Jann Wenner being the creator of Rolling Stone) while People is owned by Time, Inc.

Life & Style and InTouchWeekly on the other hand are both owned by the same company and often use eachother as confirmation for rumors. "A tabloid is reporting blah blah blah..."
