I heard about that anchor that tore up/tried to burn the story on air, and all i can say is that she was obviously looking for publicity herself: obviously if you do that at the height of the news cycle you are going to get extra press for it. i feel angry that people have fallen for it.

Jee, if you had done years of intensive study to get you to a level where you could be a journalist, would you be happy being forced to report about Paris Hilton as a lead story? Of course she had a hissy fit. Why shouldn't she stand up for herself? Other journalists should follow her example and stand up for what they believe in. Reporting about Paris is NOT news, it never has been and it never will be. I don't know why there has to be some sort of ulterior motive for the woman to get pissed off, just because she's on air it doesn't mean that she has to play along and play nice, if she's going to make a statement she should do it when she feels like it..:ninja:

one of the things about being a good journalist is being able to report on anything without letting your personal opinion affect the story. I believe what she did is unnacceptable, by journalistic standards. Its the same thing as a station deciding not to air news on iraq just because they are opposed to the war, there are people that want to watch the iraq story and the advertisers are paying you to reach out to as many people as u can.

You really consider the Paris Hilton situation journalism? Even if it was, it would be more acceptable if it was the first time the story had been in the news. But it wasn't. It was covered every day. Repeatedly. I'm glad somebody said enough is enough. I couldn't switch channels without hearing something about it. And this wasn't the only channel airing the news, as far as I'm concerned it was better left with E! Entertainment. Because that's all it was. Entertainment.

well its in the news everyday because people want to watch it, paris is the reason bloggers like perez hilton are making money today. as much as i dont condone it, peoples wants have hit a new low and the press has to follow to remain relevant

The news has always followed toxic waste stories like this.

All the Hiltons have done is proven money can't buy integrity.

Hilton's Cousin Charged With Dui.

Socialite Paris Hilton's cousin will appear in court next month (Aug07) charged with driving under the influence (DUI). Brooke Ashley Brinson was stopped by police in California last year after a breath test revealed she had exceed the alcohol limit.

The 20-year-old was also driving a Mercedes Benz registered to Hilton which allegedly caused a four-car collision on the freeway. Brinson will appear is expected to appear in court on 3 August.

^ I like how her actual name was mentioned only in the second sentence instead of the usual first. It just shows whoever wrote this article did so only to mention Paris. :innocent:

Certainly, and while I'm not saying that nobody should report on the situation, I think covering her release from jail, on the hour, as a lead story was just absurd.

From thesuperficial.com.

Paris Hilton - who told Larry King she reads the Bible even though she couldn't come up with a single favorite passage - apparently told Larry King off camera that she's also really into politics. The Scoop reports:
While off camera, King asked Paris Hilton if she votes, according to a source. Oh yes, Hilton responded. When did you last vote, King asked according to the insider, who says that Hilton replied, “Last year.” When King wanted to know which election she voted in, Hilton explained, “Presidential.” “I guess she forgot there was no presidential election last year,” quipped one
amused source. “She was too busy reading the Bible.”

Last year, Kilmer criticised the media fascination with Hilton, saying, "Paris Hilton is a great example. She's famous for nothing. It's what we are celebrating in my country - the nothingness of her fame."

He bashed her before making out, not after...

So that just says Paris has no discretion whatsoever.....she'll kiss anything!

Hilton loses inheritance?

Hilton loses inheritance

PARTY princess Paris Hilton is $60 million out of pocket after her billionaire grandfather - appalled by her jail term for drink-driving offences - reportedly axed her inheritance.

Family patriarch Barron Hilton was already embarrassed by his granddaughter's wild behaviour - notably when her home sex video was leaked on the internet.
But the 79-year-old considered her 23-day sentence last month the last straw, a Hilton biographer says.

"He was, and is, extremely embarrassed by how the Hilton name has been sullied by Paris," says Jerry Oppenheimer, who wrote a biography of the clan called House Of Hilton.

"He now doesn't want to leave unearned wealth to his family."

Hilton senior, the only member of the family left with a sizeable stake in the huge hotel chain, has let it be known that he intends to donate to charity the $2.4bn he will gain from this month's sale of the company to private equity firm Blackstone.

The money will go to the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the charity set up in the name of the founder of the family business.

Ouch! But I suppose it won't really affect her as she's made so much from hawking things, appearances etc.
