Personal Style etc - general discussion

Because of work, at the beginning of the year, I'll be moving to Southern California, to a very "interesting" area, fashion-wise, outside of LA. It's known for its cougars (a term I've only recently learned), who are essentially rich housewives who dress much too young for their age, in designer jeans and expensive IT bags.

OMG, that was a scary thing to read! What a slam! I think you'll find it quite a bit less "cougary" than you've been led to believe. Women of "a certain age" in this area may tend be more fit than other parts of the country but as far as dressing too young...don't see alot of that and I live near the studios.

Anyway the cougar thing is more a Mrs. Robinson/The Graduate mindset and/or wishful thinking on the part of certain young guys, not a fashion statement as far as I've heard. Don't buy into the hype, we're all kinda normal looking as a rule (yes, even "rich housewives") . :D :D :D

Where are you headed, the valley, beach, inland, foothills?

I feel a bit odd saying this, but I had to.... I was chozen for one of 10 most elegant women by the Local ELLE !

^ I feel like there is too much choice and I need to focus on what I will actually end up wearing.

Like I really want these Givenchy shoes in white leather, but how practical are white shoes in London? Where 90% of the time it rains?? OK, I am fed up with the weather here at the moment.

So cost per wear they don't really cut it... I am also debating on some sandals but to spend much £££ on sandals? Hmmm. I have to write down what I really need.

I am however quite happy as I have found an outfit for summer that REALLY works, to have one outfit does not sound like a lot but I need my outfit..if I am to be happy with them be in my eyes perfect... and that is hard to achieve. So there. :D just need a few dresses now.

well- good to know you are being smart in your purchases pucci...:flower:

... i am thinking that i never ever ever ever EVER EVER EVER have enough grey in my closet!...... :ninja:...

lol, I'm sorry if I came across as offensive. I didn't mean to imply that LA is full of cougars! I work in the Valley, close to Thousand Oaks, and in my defense, I will say that I've already seen 3 women fitting the Cougar description. But I think I also am being particularly watchful.

I will say that my style hasn't changed as much as I thought it would, which I'm very happy about!

I'm going through some majors changes. I've cleaned my closet twice in a month and I'm glad to announce that I'm not an impulsive buyer anymore.

^ That's great. =)

Me on the other hand just bought another jacket.. ( my guilty pleasure):ninja:
But I adore it so it' totally worth it.

Well, I am now focusing on summer purchases I have decided to get rid of a few things that I do not use.
I am also am making a list over summer buys, a clutch is one of them but I don't know whether to splurge (balenciaga) or go cheap on that since it's only handheld and I just know I'll leave it somewhere.

As usual I'm after the perfect white dress.. I just want simplicity.
