Shopping Etc. - general discussion

I know what you mean, softie... Good stuff might disappear right from under your nose, but once your personal style happens to be "in style" there is so much to choose from, so you're bound to have a much wider selection! Always look on the bright side! :p

But yes, I can imagine that competing with real shopaholic fashionistas is tough...

I have that problem allot... Actually I bought a couple of things that I really loved and now I'm rethinking my decision to buy them. It's too late now to return them because I don't have the tags or receipts.. And then there are pieces that I sort of liked when I tried on or saw online, but passed on. And now I wish I would have bought them but they're not available anymore:cry: I always double check on eBay though:p

You need to adopt my filing system ;)

I keep a great big manila envelope for each season. On the front I write the date, store, designer/label, description, and price ... inside go all my receipts, catalog pages, shipping slips, hang tags, etc. (Note that I don't remove the hang tags until I'm actually about to wear the item--then they go in.) I have these going back years ... :innocent:

PS I believe that if it's not there when you go back, it wasn't meant to be yours ;)

Has anyone here read the Shopoholic books by Sophie Kinsella and how she uses those vacuum packs to store her clothes? I thought it was a really good idea!! I'd do it, but I dont really have any clothes that I dont wear often

Is it bad that while Christmas shopping I also seem to buy a good deal of things for myself? :ninja:

or will pick something out for someone and then end up keeping it because i decide it's more "me" than it is "them"

2 dvds that i bought for my sister arrived from amazon today and i when i opened the package i sort of decided that i should have them instead of her.. feeling a little guilty but i've already gotten her a bunch of other gifts :ermm:
we'll see...

i just keep wanting to use this guy over and over again :ninja: :ninja: :ninja:

fashionista-ta, I also have a filing system. Same thing, even up to the keeping the hang tags on until wearing (or until first wash before wearing)...the only difference is that I only save hang tags from big ticket purchases...of which there are not many ;). all the hang tags from my cheapie purchases go straight to the trash.

I try to keep telling myself that...

It's actually a case of other people don't realise they were meant to be mine!:innocent:

I'm disappointed in my ability to be on top of online sales. Living in canada, revolve is one of the few sites that don't ship with firms like ups that will charge me brokerage fees. I assumed they'd be having a boxing day sale, but wrongly thought it would start the 26th because in the afternoon they hadn't reduced anything save from what was already reduced. TOnight I go on by chance to see, yes, they have the sale already on, and half of what I had patiently been eyeing was already gone in my size. :( Must always be on my toes for this kind of thing.

And to all who posted earlier, annoying SAs are precisely the reason I prefer to do my shopping online now, at least for the most part

I wish I could find a new cute summer dress. I went shopping all day today and bought everything but! I'll have to try again next week.

Yeah, love the books

I'm not sure if i would do it though as, if i remember correctly, it doesn't turn out that good in the end.

I always have basic things in mind that I go hunting for... but I can never find them. For instance, I need a black 3/4 sleeve deep-v neck top in the right length, but it never shows up! What am I to do? :( It's even worse looking for more particular things..

I hate that when I have a specific idea as to what I want & can't find it anywhere. I can see it so clearly in my head, but never in any shops!

I feel like I have spring fever shopping-wise... :ninja:

I limited my spending for a while but now I'm starting to feel the urge to splurge and I know I'm gonna break!

I feel powerless to prevent it...

Have you tried vintage or a tailor? I know some people here sew for themselves, but I have reason to suspect that is not my gift ;)

I kind of stopped going at it from that direction and instead use what I can find, but if you feel passionate about it, I think you should keep looking for a way :flower:

i want...i want...i want...

:ninja:...

how many black sweaters can one person own......
and how many pairs of cropped pants...
:innocent:...
