Erin that's true, it does make it more fun! You get to be more creative with what you can buy.

Softgrey, exactly! Being strict about shopping is not one of my strengths! :ninja:

Wonderful that everybody gets to indulge in Fall shopping. Me? Nah... not really... a few small items here and there. I'm broke! But sometimes that makes fashion a bit more fun, when you don't have your pick of everything that you want...

everybody?...
who?............................

i don't think very many people can have everything they want...
most people on the planet have to pick and choose carefully...
although -obviously...everyone has a different budget...

but regardless of budget....
i think it's always better to make careful choices...
and i think it shows in your style when you do..

i bet you look great erin!...
B)...

i know that for me...
the tighter my budget...
the harder i think about purchases...
and usually, the happier i am with the things i do get...

:p

juliet-
actually-being strict IS one of my strengths...^_^...
i'll talk you out of stuff if you need me to!...
...

i am feeling a bit 'burnt out' on fashion lately :(
..but i am doing some shopping tuesday so hopefully that will 'revive' me.

part of it is that i am hesitant to wear the things i really like to high school. i don't want to look too dressed up or anything, or look like i am trying too hard :ninja: last year i didn't worry about standing out (even if it was just a little bit), but i am just in a rut this year. plus, i have been walking home from school everyday, so that causes issues with what shoes to wear :judge:

It's as if we've got the same mind - I feel exactly the way you do. I have plenty of potential outfits in my mind, but when it boils down to picking out an outfit every morning, I generally stick with 'friendly' pieces like jeans and black skirts. :ninja:

It has all come together... and it all makes sense, I love to dress in fall!

Because of work, at the beginning of the year, I'll be moving to Southern California, to a very "interesting" area, fashion-wise, outside of LA. It's known for its cougars (a term I've only recently learned), who are essentially rich housewives who dress much too young for their age, in designer jeans and expensive IT bags.

The casual but overly trendy environment, the hotter climate, etc, are making me feel like I need a bit of a style update. Suddenly floral silk skirts and lace dresses seem a bit wrong, except at night time perhaps. I definitely don't want to blend in with the cougars and their younger counterparts, but at the same time, I don't want to look too dressed up or stand out too much. So I think for Spring, I'll be adding more APC style items. Clean and simple silhouettes in cotton or linen that can be paired with casual flats and flat sandals. I'll probably be passing on Dries for the first time since falling in love with his clothes. Well, some of his less embellished items, like his cottons tees, will still work! I'll be looking to the French for inspiration on how to do casual well.

I wonder if anyone else felt a need for a wardrobe update after moving to a new city ....

my styles so out of control lately, it always happens when the weather changes! as soon as i can pile on more layers, i go a little nuts...it's a terrible thing to live in texas when you love to collect scarves, no? it's a terrible thing to live in texas when you love anything remotely fashion-related, actually.
oooohhh i just got a sequined mini skirt from j. crew, i can't wait to wear it!! i'm somewhat ashamed to admit it but some of the stuff i wear the most comes from j. crew! 15 years old is too young to shop like a mom.

i'm so happy, today my mom showed me an early birthday gift of mine...(never mind that my birthday is two days before christmas and we've only just entered november)...a black comme des garcons cutaway top with THE gloves on it!!
00390m.jpg

cuts off about mid-waist and gets longer towards the back, where it has tails!! aahhhh
it's extra cool because just this morning my mom and i were admiring a lady on the sartorialist who was wearing a comme jacket with the gloves....
i see it over a dress or a tank and jeans with extra funky shoes.

Cutx - what about Blaec.com - they have nice jeans! and very good service!

i checked the site...pretty much all the skinny leg jeans are sold out

any other sites that you guys think would be good?

I find that I very much dress like a bookish male but in the style of a girl (i think i've been called "cute-as-a-button" too much to be a full-fledged woman :lol)

For example... my TA (English Literature MALE Masters Student) and I wear very similar outfits on many occasions. I wear a cashmere v-neck, levis, and flats or chucks.. he wears the male equivalent. same with many other outfits. So, I deduced my style is late-twenties-male-grad-student-who loves 19th century british novels- minus an x plus a y chromosome. Time to keep a lookbook again, this is not a good stage for me :ninja:

I've recently started a clinical placement after three years of college, and thus have had to stop wearing 80% of my wardrobe which is all college casual/going out stuff. I've been finding the transition into a work wardrobe quite hard. My work wardrobe currently consists of two pairs of black trousers, one pair of beige trousers, five/six shirts and a boring black skirt. Plus, one pair of black trousers I bought for my college interview ( very first formal interview) three years ago so they're a bit tight and not very flattering.

I've never felt so unfashionable or out of things to wear as I do now. Trouble is with going out, transport costs and etc, i barely have any money to go shopping, and the little money i have, i've been spending unwisely on sparkly tops and dresses for going out or booze.

Can anyone recommend a few items i can buy to pull my work wardrobe together, I'm aware I need to get a new pair of trousers but well cut trousers are hard to find and expensive so I've just been putting off getting them...until then I'm stuck in my one-size-too-small unflattering black trousers and dowdy wardrobe.

I'm a girly girly! If I could, I would wear everyday dresses and skirts!
And I think this is my style. I feel very feminin with dresses and skirts!
It's like a party everyday!

My dream outfit for winter would be a black leather jacket or a grey long coat with a dress underneath with some black ankle boots.^_^

You might want to check out the 4-5 piece French wardrobe thread ... we'll help you out over there ;)

I find great bargains while shopping for work wear. If you have one near you, Macy's is a great spot, because they always have markdowns, which include great brands. I've found lots of great things without too much sacrafice on style. It is work afterall, but you can get away with more than you may think. Practically any cute top works under a jacket.

Thrift shops or charity shops are the way to go. Most of my smart business attire came to me secondhand, and I have some very sharp outfits. You can find a lot of good brands, really well-made, good-looking clothes for literally pennies on the dollar in a decent thrift shop.

I feel a bit odd saying this, but I had to.... I was chozen for one of 10 most elegant women by the Local ELLE !
