Phoebe Philo - Life After Chloe - *Update* Creative Director for Celine

well, i heard this rumour as an actual rumour from someone here, not an article and i thought it was a piece of doo. seriously, i already said what i think in the other Philo Leaving Chloe thread.

i think fatal mistakes ate being made. and even though it's a rumour, i think it will come true. rumours have to start from something..

do these people take lead from lurking our discussions?
i remember hearing about RM at Chloe right here at tFS :D

regardless how i adore RM i dont think he's the guy for Chloe..
he will need to shake the look of this label from scrach (which i wouldnt mind too much to be honest ) he's so NOT Chloe ..
Yvan M. who's already been with the Chloe team would do such a much better work ...

Roland Mouret on his way to Chloe

Don't know if this has been posted yet. From vogue.co.uk

THE CHLOE MAN

IS Roland Mouret really on his way to Chloe? Word is that the French-born, British-based designer will take over from Phoebe Philo should she decide that the commute is too much for her after all. When rumours began to emerge in October that Philo was tiring of travelling between London and Paris, and of spending so much time away from her little girl, Roland's name was bandied about as a possible replacement along with Helmut Lang and Jil Sander. But we hear that Roland, who sensationally announced in October that he was quitting the house that carries his name after coming to creative blows with his investors, is first in line. "As far as we know it is still a rumour," says a spokeswoman for Mouret, who will continue working at the Chelsea-based studio until the autumn/winter collection is finished. "Roland Mouret, the company, is planning to announce its own plans in January, but so far Roland himself is making no comment."

I agree Lena - his aesthetic does not, to me, fit with Chloe's

I don't think RMs explored his own style enough to apply it to someone elses, not in the way that he couldn't, just that he shouldn't have to.

If you look at what they each did for spring, they couldn't be more different ... Chloe could hardly be further away from the body, and Mouret couldn't be closer.

I recently tried on a Chloe holiday skirt that fit like it was made for me ... I think there's a legacy there that should go forward, whether Phoebe's there or not ...

i don't know...
it would certainly be good for mouret to get a job so quickly...

and i think i'd rather like to see someething that is a combo of what mouret has been doing and what chloe has been doing...

i thinkn that could be rather good and rather commercial as well...
sort of the drapes and folds that mouret does but further away from the body the way chloe does...
this would make mourets beautiful designs far more accessible to a larger market...

it's interesting to contemplate...

i dunno. i'm so shocked i still can't get over it.
maybe it's because i've grown to love philo's work. maybe it's because i don't see what the big deal about mouret's clothes is.

up untill two season's ago, they were like food without salt. i see no difference between his suits, and say what oscar de la renta sends down his runway. in other words, his kind of woman is too "pretty" and done. chloe is effortless, no?

Mouret for Chloé could actually be very interesting, I don't think choosing him to succeed Philo would be a bad choice at all.

I just don't get the "hype" around Mouret. To me, he seems to do just one type of shape and reproduce it season after season. But I really don't follow him enough or care to to know any better.

i think the combination of Mouret and Chloe could be very nice. a "laid-back" version of Mouret to have more of a Chloe style would be interesting...

i'll be keeping an open mind :flower:

Mouret for Chloe would be very interesting and certainly different. Chloe's boho is getting more and more boring and tired, Chloe is in need for a little makeover. I think that with Mouret the designs would have a completly different feel, fitted but still free-spirited- just the way I like it.

I don't know if this is a good thing, one of my favorite designers leaving and another one of my favorite designers replacing her.

I wouldn't have thought of this, but I think the merge would become satisfying. I do love his clothes, while Philo's last collection wasn't as strong.

I believe they should give Yvan the reigns. He's already there and he deserves the chance having worked with so many notable companies in France and especially Italy.

chloe seems to me all about youthfulness, even when it's not boho. the Mouret style is too occasional. And not for every body-type, whereas Chloe kind of offers something to every woman, and you get the feeling with these clothes that you can wear the same piece up or down--variations of the same theme can go to the red carpet or to the grocery store. which is what has made it so successful, that french nonchalance. mouret is so not nonchalant.

as long as we're speculating, what other designers do you think could do Chloe--aesthetically? if we could just pick anyone...

I just had a thought, what about Behnaz Serafpour? She would have the feminine lines, maybe some of the lace work, but she might take it into a prim thing...

I could put my name down for the Chloe design team- Just kidding, and i'll keep on dreaming :(

I personally would love to see Matthew Williamson designing for Chloe...(not possible seeing he resently took over the artistic direction at Pucci. )

Or even Luella Bartley would be interesting to see what she bring to the house. Excuse my ignorance but can anyone tell me more about Yvan M.-Which houses he has worked before?

Which designer do you think would be perfect for Chloe- that is if Phoebe Philo is leaving after all.

I like her work a lot and would like if she stayed on- She still has lots of things to offer.

If I've seen any repetitiveness at all, its been demonstrated several seasons running by the House of Philo. i think Chloe needs a change in direction, as the "Boho-chic" era *must* come to an end. Perhaps, Ms. Philo can take Sienna and the Olsons along with her on her way out. [Fashion icons they are not.]

Mouret's form fitting dresses and coats are simply gorgeous. He is definately one of the most underrated designers (along with Alber Elbaz) and for him to be out of a job right now is insanity. Chloe and Mouret would seem to me a perfect fit.

But what do I know, I drink beer out of a can, wash/blowdry my own hair and own a penis.

:ninja:
