I'm doing an informal photo shoot today for a designer friend and it's in a graveyard. The photographer said that I should take care of the makeup myself, and to not be afraid to go crazy. I have no clue as to what to do!
I'm figuring a dark look would be good... does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

If it's in a graveyard, please don't go dark. That's too... you know. Push the envelope and think of a more unique theme.

There are several tips for photoshoot makeup that I can't think of now. I don't know what the photographer is up to, but you atleast may want to go matte.

I second Pavement's idea to eschew the dark look. How about going for an ethereal angel look? It still flows with the hereafter kind of theme and would look fresh.

If you go dark it will look gothic, and i agree with what Autumn said.

Do some research and find cool makeup pics you like. The Makeup Art tread is a great inspiration.

I allways research a LOT before photoshoots to find what matches with what the stylist or photographer wants, then i adapt the look and choose the products and try them on myself (great way to try, practice and see what works o not).

Then sometimes i take some pics to see if works on photograph, sometimes it´s too soft, sometimes the colours could be more intense, etc.

Anyway, one should allways carry every makeup product to make sure one doesn´t get stuck.

Talk to the photographer, most of the times they also already have some chosen pictures and they can give you a more precise clue of what they want.

Good luck!

And dont forget to put foundation all the way down to the neckline of whatever s/he is wearing otherwise it will seem pale compared to the face...

I would do Marie Antoinette faces. Powdered up, rosy flushed cheeks, lightly stained lips, barely any eyeshadow. Big dark eyebrows!
