Pictures Of Your Magazine Collection

The worse thing I discovered was the word 'lots'...If you go on E Bay and put in say Vogue Magazine Lots it will give you people who are selling like a whole year or collection of Vogue- and the shipping charges due to the weight are shocking!!:o BUT, often it brings the cost of each issue way down, not to mention hours of great fun going through them!! :woot: I shouldn't be passing this along- it is the advanced stage of magazine addiction...

I am tempted to buy the 4 vintage Vogues! The one with Kiara Kabakuru on the cover. But probably not, 'cause I don't know how to pay them.

^ Pay Pal!! Simple and safe- I use it for all my magazine purchases!! ;)

Oh No! I think you have turned me into a monster! I've used ebay for searches before however I've never actually bought any magazines before. My one fear is I'll pay a lot for the magazines but then they wont be in good condition, how do I ensure that they are in fact good quality?

^ Well, check the sellers feedback rating- usually if they are honest about what shape the magazines are in the people who bought from them before are happy, if not... And btw, I have gotten many (usually older) fashion magazines that were in iffy condition for a really good price and found lots of good ads and pictures- the high priced ones seem to be more for serious collectors; I just want the pictures!!

^ Thanks for your help Boomer! I am a bit of a serious collector, I'm looking for the September 2006 issue of Vogue (the one with Kirsten Dunst on the cover as Marie Antoinette) but all the ones I've found are way out of my price range. I want the pictures but also I love being able to look back at what was in fashion that year, magazines a good way to keep a record of it.

^haha... good point, I've only ever bought two copies a few times when they were really special issues (perhaps I ought to do this more though...). I never bought a copy of that September issue, I just read it in the bookstore and then got a subscription to Vogue after that (mind you I was only just getting interested in fashion then, I had no concept of magazine's value), but now I really wish I owned a copy of it. :)

Ages ago, we were talking about the Ikea modular units - and today I found another shot of such a set-up, providing storage and display (uktv.co.uk):

I found myself purchasing two of those Billy bookcases from Ikea, a while back. Surprisingly they are fantastic and good quality.
Those display shelves look brilliant. It'd be like having WHSmith in your home - how convenient.

Yet again, I'm struggling to find space for magazines. They've spread between two rooms now, kind of ridiculous.

I may be moving to a new place within the next few months- and my primary concern is bookshelves- I am so sick of having my books and magazines all over the house and unorganized...This is basically what I have in mind...

Although looking at that picture, I get the feeling that, one day, they're going to find Karl crushed under a landslide of books. Unless Baptiste murders him at some point. And then makes it look like an accident in the library...

Or Col. Mustard in the library with the candlestick...;)

Does anyone know the real story about stacking books and magazines horizontially instead of standing them up? Is that a real issue or is it just for the lunatic fringe of collecting (as with Karl...)?

^ that's funny because that's exactly the same way I store my books and magazines!

loved tigerrouge comment above! a similar situation occurred once to collector and critic Vince Aletti, one of his cabinets fell to the ground, but luckily he was not near

Actually, considering we all will check out someday, I guess I would appreciate that as the cause...or maybe getting run over by a supermodel in a Ferrari... B)
I am having a moral crisis with some Vogues from the 1990s- they're not really super valuable, but I would like to get some of the eds and ads out and in binders...Humm- to cut out or not to cut out...

^ I advise you to choose for something like this:

Volumes containing the complete L'Uomo Vogue issues 1967-1984
