Pictures Of Your Magazine Collection

Does anyone know the real story about stacking books and magazines horizontially instead of standing them up? Is that a real issue or is it just for the lunatic fringe of collecting (as with Karl...)?

I think stacking them horizontally is supposed to be better for the health of the magazine, because they lie flat instead of a bit open like they are when they are vertially stored. But I can't decide which to do with my own personal collection. 1/2 of my magazines are divided into piles on my bedroom floor now.

I'm moving to a new country  so I took the opportunity to show you my mini-collection that I started a few months ago! Please don't laugh

^ Excellent start!! :woot: I think books (mostly fashion books) and fashion magazines are something you just can't have enough of... every time I go to a good book store I pick out a couple but there are almost always about ten others I want to buy! I could probably spend several hundred dollars a month if I was able to...and then the coffee table fashion books and photography, and my never ending collection of ad and fashion show binders- who needs an outside life!! ;)

^
The problem that where I live actually magazines are very expensive ... exemple: Vogue US costs about €23 .. but what I can do.. I can't leave it there... It's my drug :(!
And now that I'm moving, I can't take them with me all ... so my sister, who becomes addicted like me, will enjoy them!

Newest additions to my collection. Bought them all for the past few weeks.

:)

It looks like I might be moving soon, and instead of trying to do everything at once, I will put the books and magazines in a storage unit until the clothes are sorted out (there are quite a few!!) and I will build some nice bookcases so I can finally organize everything properly...B)

hi guys do you know any tips to prevent the magazine from getting yellow and looks old? i want them to look like new everytime, even if i keep them for years! :D hahaha

^Keep them out of the direction of sun light (regarding the yellowing) and try and keep everything in neat piles, so edges don't fray and such, to prevent them from aging.

Does anyone have an opinion on 'comic bags' with cardboard 'backing boards' for magazines? I know comic book collectors who wouldn't think of not keeping their books in them, and Bags Unlimited (my go to source) has them for magazines I believe...Sounds sensible- you could handle them without touching the covers and keep moisture and all away from them...B)

I was trying to sort my collection today and it's seriously occured to me that I have way too many magazines. I think I am going to try to limit myself to buying the four magazines I seriously collect and ONE extra magazine for that month if anything strikes a chord. Although I'll allow myself to buy the biannual ones in September/March. Hello, I'm blueorchid and I'm addicted to buying magazines.

^Well, for me, it's like you're gonna try to avoid buying a lot of magazines for that certain month and will limit yourself by buying the magazines that you frequently read and collect. :D

my collection currently sits more than a metre high on the ground.. and that is after a cleanout a few months ago and not including my (and my mothers) collection of vanity fairs dating back god knows how long

I am sorting things to put into storage- I had to pay extra for a climate controled unit so my magazines and books would be safe...
