piercing top of ear- your opinion

I did this when I was in college because my mom always said I couldn't get it done, so that's the first thing I did when I moved out..but a few years later I let it grow shut because I realized she was right and it really wasn't me. There are certain people I think it looks good on, but most of time I am not a fan.

I got one after I saw Gisele's in 2001. LOL.

Actually I got two, one below my first but that never healed right so I let it close up. No scar or anything on that one. I still have a small white gold hoop in my original piercing. I think it looks cool.

I always wanted to get a little hoop on my left ear...but I figure with three studs in each lobe and then a nostril piercing, I am good. There are some people who it totally suits, and then some who it doesn't. It was the big thing when I was younger...but it's moved from that to the bellybutton to the nostril, and now the lip.

I got one at the top of my right ear, but it closed ages ago because I stopped wearing anything in it for so long.
I like them. Once you establish a hole you can take it out when you go to work. Plus if you stop liking it, it will close over soon enough.

It's funny that I was thinking about my old cartilage piercing a couple days ago! I got mine done when I was still in high school. I had it done the bad way with the piercing gun.. I remember it felt like burning for hours after and was still quite red. It was fun to have for awhile but I hated how I couldn't sleep on my left side comfortably because my ear was sore as heck! I took it out maybe a year later and it actually healed completely! I don't even remember the exact spot where it is.

You might as well get pierced - you can see how you feel about it, see how it looks and then you can always take it out if you don't like it later. :o

Don't skimp on the aftercare as you will want it too heal nice and quickly.

I had both top ears done (get it done professionally with a needle not a gun) and both rooks done (the fold inside your ear). I think they look great and that is all that is important!!!! :D

I never got my ear lobes pierced.
(But then I also have a full back tattoo - designed in London)!

I recently pierced the top of my right ear, it looked really good but after one month I got an infection and had to take it out..
Now I'm thinking of taking in my nipple, lol! Does anyone have any tips?

I have had one since high school. I often forget about it b/c I can't even feel it anymore.

I had both nipples done at the same time - its a sharp pain but over quite quickly. Again - go to a good piercer and you MUST follow through with proper aftercare. Do not skimp on this!

It will be sore for about a week afterwards.

Thank you for the advice!!
I'm recearching for a good piercer and really looking at how the hygiene is etc. I'm afraid of the pain though, I know it over in a minute but still! I've read about an anaesthetic gel that cools down and lessens the pain.. Is it usual for the piercers to have some sort of anaesthetic available?

If you are just having one nipple pierced then its not so bad (#2 then you already know what is coming pain-wise).

No anaesthetic gel is normally available as the pain is considered part of the 'process' of the piercing  It will hurt, but be over fairly quickly and a good piercer will make the whole process as 'easy' as possible. Good luck!

And one more problem. What ear i should choose?Right or left? That's another question.

I don't think it matters which ear you choose. ^_^ My left ear is pierced.

Personally, I wanted to get another ear piercing, avoiding the conventional idea of a second hole. I wanted to get it elsewhere on my ear. What I love about it is that it's still subtle enough for a work place. It isn't as if I pierced my tragus and the dress code wouldn't allow it. :flower:

I used to have a zillion ear piercings, but they were too annoying to take care of... So I let them all close and now I just have 2 :D

I have 6 ear piercings...so I think I should refrain myself from getting more  I'd love some in the top of the ear, but BF thinks I'll look criminal :ninja:
