Prada F/W 2024.25 Milan

I love the purse straps. I appreciate when a designer introduces a new way to wear an existing piece rather than producing something new. Also love the color palette. I HATE the triangle logo/motif on everything (especially the evening wear.)

It is like she doesnt want take risks and he supports her

I can’t with the triangles in the runway. Why so cheap? 💀

Prada has had the worst evolution since the 2000… Back then it was literally one of the best brands: ironic, cool, fashion, light in a way… But it’s been a total nonesense for years and Raf made it even worse (and way more pretentious).

I prefer seeing it on the mannequins, which isn't saying much.

BUT, it's also made me hate certain things about this collection even more. The bib/apron skirt things are just foul, especially with those godforsaken bows and rosettes tacked onto them. The vest lining style backs to the jackets is an awful idea because of the fabrics they chose. Should have been a heavier charmeuse satin or even a mid weight duchess. Can't stand the way it's sitting. Those jacquards also look so cheap and stock-service fabric generic.

What I do like is the filigree frame and floral flocking both on the skirts and shifts/smocks up close. The look of that leather is rather nice too, although errs into plastic vinyl because it looks so "bouncy". The premise of the knits look better up close, just the forms of them as a garment don't work.

It's strange, because the collection is really putrid as a whole but there's so many elements that should actually work. They've just been used incorrectly or have had extra things added to it to have it look as if it is questioning "taste" in that oh so Prada way.

Ugh I can’t stand Susie Bubble. Her fashion commentary is so amateur. She’s one of those who seem to indiscriminately like anything with a label on it and her idea of giving a review is describing the collection. I have eyes, thank you very much.

ANYWAY…the collection.

It’s maybe one of the better Raf x Miuccia efforts. It looks a bit more like Prada…certain things kind of remind me of Fall/Winter 2014..maybe it’s the colors?

But, as I always say, the problem with Prada now is that it ultimately says nothing about anything. Sure, there’s an obtuse and convoluted press release…but despite the seasonal word salad, I don’t get any feeling from these collections anymore. Prada used to be so evocative.

It's stressful to see Raf's take slowly taking over here at Prada. I am not a fan of him, and think his stuff can feel more forced whereas Miuccia always feels more cerebral. Her approach to design and his sense of minimalism from past work, noted; remember when he was at Dior and tried to deny that he was just a minimalist because he had just left Jil Sander? Or! The oddly short stint he did at CK? Raf seems like he doesn't have reverence for the label's he's at. I don't like the idea of him working with Prada like this, and see that he is adapting too much of what we would see at his namesake line, to Prada; instead of working from their own house codes. I understand everyone has their own style persona, but a label like Prada doesn't need it. The house codes of stealth luxury deal in subtlety not gimmicks. I can clearly see where Raf is, in the collection, and what parts remain as Miuccia. I don't like the progressive fade out.

In fact, I hold my breath to make sure that Raf AND Miuccia walk out together.
I dread the very thought that Raf will one day take that bow on his own. Hate that thought, deeply.

Prada is king, it will be styled TF down in every editorial until we have no choice but to accept it into our fashion universe as a mainstay. True influence. Just hate that Raf is involved. I don't think he's worthy.

Not sure if Miuccia feels cerebral at all what with all the dimwit "influencers" she associates her brand with. Just so tacky to me. Raf Simons has dignity.
I will make sure i will not buy anything worn by "style bubble" 😆

The inclusion of the influencers is definitely an industry pressure and PR team strategy; don't let that distract you from her design philosophy. I wouldn't be so quick to strip Miuccia while placing Raf on a pedestal. Feels misogynistic. Just saying.

Feels like the "intelliectual" Prada is reserved for Fondazione Prada and Prada itself is meant for the masses. Like Vuitton.

Still doesn't unseat my original mention that you pedestal-postioned Raf, while diminishing Miuccia.
Doesn't take any amount of intellectuality to see the underlying presence of mysogyny that lives there.
Fashion is female, by muse, model and mission. Furthermore, Miuccia has been well documented and hailed as a cerebral type of designer, which is supported by her education, holding a PhD in political science from University of Milan, 1973. She understands that her role in fashion is to "sell", her approach in doing that is intellectual. THIS is the house code of Prada, which keeps it a cut above the rest. All your reservations and mentions of the fondazione are just fodder.

Vuitton mentions sold separately. The focus of this conversation is Prada. Save everything else for another thread.

🤣 What misogyny? Ann Demeulemeester, a female fashion designer that i respect a lot, has refused to sell out, it is a matter of principles.
I remember her saying "Ann Demeulemeester will only do Ann Demeulemeester" despite lucrative offers coming her way.
Plus, you really do trust politicians? Miuccia is a "gauche caviar" , nothing more nothing less. 😆😆😆
