Me too. Because I think in order to understand her fashion you have to understand as well herself. Her believes and lifestyle. After all, she must have taken her creative ideas form somewhere. And even here in Germany, there is not a lot published about her as a person and private life. She used to control very well what the German press would write about her. That probably had to do with the time when she herself a fashion journalist. As I said before, the only one not toeing her line was W. Joop. However, during the last years she had become more friendly with the press giving lengthly interviews and so on.
She would have suited Hermes so well too. Not to mention that she wouldn't have had to worry about cheap manufacturing production/and lower prices with Hermes (I can't even afford one of their fragrances... well, I could but rather wouldn't)....
Well since you said it first, I guess its o.k. to say that I also heard from inside sources that Ms. Sander was gay. Or 'bisexual' as I understood from a former employee.

PATRIZIO BERTELLI has quieted the speculation about the fate of Jil Sander by saying publicly that he would sell it only if the offer was "very, very, very good", adding that he had also experienced buyers' interest in Helmut Lang. "We are restructuring [Jil Sander] and converting an entrepreneurial business into an industrial one," the Prada ceo told the audience at a luxury goods conference arranged by The Wall Street Journal this week. Part of that process saw Prada form a new company, Prada SpA Group, in October which focuses on its Prada and Miu Miu labels and excludes the money-losing brands: Sander, Lang and a minority stake in Church's shoes. Bertelli also took a shot at the banking world during the conference, criticising the valuation methods of analysts and the pressure put on fashion companies to produce short-term results. "Analysts are wrong to look at just the numbers," he said. "They don't consider what's really important to building a global brand: time and history. We shouldn't fall in love with the numbers but rather be in love with excellence." (December 1 2005, AM)

If this were so true of him why would he punish Sander's aesthetics by compromising her excellence in detail and textiles... At the same time Pat is opening $40 million dollar Prada boutiques; he is trying to cut costs by controling quality of production with Lang & Sander.

Bertelli just makes me... like crazy sometimes. How could he have such the nerve to do and say the things he does. At the same time it makes me not admire Prada so much. But then again, Ms. Miuccia doesn't have anything to do with the business side of it either.
