Welcome 2 America | San Jose May 21, 2011 | Part I

oh my, the day of the concert was such a hectic day! i had to move into my new house and my friends were busy with work and errands right up until the time we had to leave for the show, we had to commute about two hours roughly to San HO.

i would of rather dressed up more for the concert but it was seriously so last minute. you know you can't be overdressed at a Prince concert :p anyway i was waiting on my friends to confirm if they were gonna go. the evening before the concert, my friend went online and purchased the tickets around 6:30pm! i was at work when i got the news, i jumped up when i got his text  i cleaned out my closet several times before the move so i was like sh!t, i don't have any of that royal purple . so i went with my lavender skinny jeans --well they were skinny but they've got so stretch that by the time i got to SJ, they were falling off :brows: jaykae.

when we got to HP Pavilion, from the car we saw a bigger gentleman in a purple silky button up shirt and we were like "gee, i wonder where he is headed to?" there was a good mix of men and women as well as diversity at the show ^_^

leaving that $20 parking lot, expensive like expected but it's coo, parking set up at HPP was quick and easy

the colors of the lights outside the Pavilion were so pretty! here i am with Prince digital billboard in the background. i was trying to look at two different cameras and hoping one of them would come out decently bright

i heard the some shows had pretty extensive checks for digital cameras but HPP was chill about it. they only glanced in my friend's purse, we only had our camera phones anyways.

they only have one Prince Tee at the Official online store for $20.10, very clever ;). they were charging $40 at the show :o not worth it baby, you could get a sh!tty seat (and possible free upgrade depending on which show you catching) for that price! but online, it's back ordered at the moment, i should know -_-

prince-tickets.shop.musictoday

at the venue, they had more tee shirt options, some pretty white tees with sunset / watercolory type designs. but i couldn't choose just one so i ended up not getting any because the price is too ridiculous for me to get all the ones i wanted. plus you can find better deals (eventually) online or around downtown areas of major cities in those cute little tee shirt shops etc patience young grasshoppas

/ damn i didn't even get to the show part yet, i have dinner to go to :p more laters!

Yay you finally started:buzz:

Hmm the shirt looks okay but that billboard is awesome! What is the thing in the middle between the writings?

on the billboard, the figure is of Prince, i can't remember what else. we were standing there for a while trying in vain to get one decent photo of the Prince billboard itself. it was a digital screen that kept changing photos too! so it had to be timed just right :p but it kept showing up as a huge white blob because it was so bright and the sun was setting, the flash on our camera phones weren't strong enough  i was lucky i'm even visible in that photo! you can see Prince outline more here but i'm like a shadow in this, i look more excited in this photo

the white tees were a lot more cute and girlier but i have a tendency to avoid wearing my white music tees because i'm always paranoid about them getting dirty. if someone asks me to help them with something and i'm wearing a white tee, i'll straight up wear a plastic bag over it like "okay i'm ready to help you now" ^_^ i ain't gonna mess up on of my precious music tees for nothing! and another thing with those was that you couldn't tell they were Tour shirts, they didn't say "Welcome 2 America". i'll just look for them later on, the Prince stuff i've seen in tee shirt shops are usually only $20.

i like the back of the black shirt more than the front honestly. they could of chosen a much better picture like from a live show with a guitar and lots of pretty lights B)

or like this sexiness, oh baby baby baybeh!

Welcome 2 America | San Jose May 21, 2011 | Part II

we got to San HO near HPP around 7:30pm which is when the show starts, i had already read that Larry Graham was opening and his performance went on for about an hour. we needed a pick me up so we stopped by Carls Jr for a quick bite before we headed over to the Pavilion. i think it was 8pm when we sat down in the stadium, there was only 20 minutes left of LG's performance. he was great on the bass guitar and some of his stuff was familiar but it's a shame i don't know his music better, i couldn't really sing along.

my friends stepped out to get beers and though i really wanted one, i was like nahhh because i didn't want to have to miss any of Prince because i know i'll have to go pee. i mean you can go to the restroom during the intermission when Prince is backstage changing his heels  but you might be uncomfortable in the meantime. after LG left the stage, my friend Matt said he had to go to the restroom but didn't want to miss Prince but if he waited then he was going to be soo uncomfy for a while. he ended up going and missing Prince's intro! :o during the show my friends stopped dancing but i kept on. finally we got to another intermission and my friend Jamie stormed out saying "i've had to pee for the past hour!" so next time, we're just gonna do shots in the car before we go in! we don't wanna miss a beat!

did you guys hear some religious folks thought the world was gonna end on May 21st? i was like "nuh uh! 'cause i'm gonna see Prince and we're gonna dance together Till The World Ends!"

preshow. my view of the stage, front and center, upper level $83 and worth every penny! i thought the view was going to be awful! but the HPP was smaller than expected and even with my not-the-best vision : near sighted, no glasses/contacts, no health benefits  i managed to see Prince pretty well!
welcome2americasanjosek.jpg

look at those lovely HPP workers smiling for the cameras! and helping people find their seats. they didn't care at all that we were taking pictures or video. no BIG BERTHA bothering me about camera policy :p

video montage with lots of old school footage. i was talking to Matt, saying how i was expecting Dave Chappelle to pop up on screen with his Prince impression and tray of pancakes! which only made us crave pancakes! :woot: some hardcore fans in front of us, who apparently were lucky enough to see him at LA Forum as well

when Prince got on stage, he looked so happy to be there! and it just amped up the crowd so much. if i remember correctly he was wearing a black button up shirt with white flared pants that were pretty long so it concealed his heels until he started dancing around. whenever there was close-ups on screen of his butt, i'd pretend to be grabbing his tushie :brows: and the close up of his heels were hilarious! i highly suggest you guys get front facing seats(side is cool too)! the screens don't do Prince's dancing justice, seeing his lil body move around stage is amazing, so smooth! so funky!

i'm using the Setlist to help me remember. he walked out to D.M.S.R Everybody, get on the floor, What the hell'd U come here 4? Girl, it ain't no use, U might as well get loose... then Pop Life and Musicology...these portions were kind of a blur for me because i was still like wooooow! Purple Yoda is right there :buzz:! then Shhh came on and it's love, baby :crush:

Shhh start @ 0:30 if you're ready to make babies

it was hilarious because when he asked about work, i straight up screamed "CHURRRCH!" and when Prince said we better go to church, my friends were laughing at me  i was like "i told you!"

Someone in front of you has really long nails:lol:

Oh it's quite a small and intimate arena! Perfect for something you do in the kitchen on the table top, oh!

I really like those small mirror-like screens focusing on his face. And girl, you had the love symbol pointing its arrow right at ya:brows:

oo Naked, yousa Nasty Girl! but I'd rather do U after school like some homework, Ah... am I gettin' U hot? Hot! :brows:

i was expecting to be in Siberia

lol yeah that lady's nails are crazy! she's not in front of me though, photos are from a girl who went to Thursday's show (i went to Saturday's), she brought a digital camera with zoom! i just had my sh!tty phone, should've brought my digi cam though. it would've made things easier like the billboard photos  but i still don't think i would have taken very many photos during, my friends are more likely to take photos so that's probably what is going to end up happening next time. i'd rather enjoy the show and i was totally vibing by the time Shhh came on, i was in a trance :crush: you know what they say : Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough!

the screens were cool but since i was facing him & the arrow ;) i found myself just watching him whenever the camera/screen was not showing him, they show his band and dancers periodically too and it's harder to see the smoothness of his dance moves on that screen. basically i'm gonna say the most obvious thing! buy anything but rear facing seats! Prince does walk over to the back on occasion but he mostly stays in front or on the side to play on the piano.

just to give you guys an idea on seating and price when i was purchasing. yes there were cheap seats but of course you get what you pay for. $39 was for rear upper level seats, from what i've read the fans who bought those seats were lucky enough to get upgraded to lower seating on the rear side. so the upper rear ended up being closed by curtains. this may not happen in somewhere like LA / NY though, i'd imagine it'd be completely sold out and no room to upgrade etc but in smaller city like SJ it's possible. they say Prince didn't look as happy at Thursday's SJ show because it was not as full as Saturday's, so it's another thing to consider is the date you choose. because damn when he stepped on to stage on Saturday, he looked so happy! he had his game face on and i was like "it's on like Donkey Kong!"

when i looked on Thursday night May 19th for Saturday's tickets, the only tickets i'd considered in our price range were the $60 something ones but they were upper level corner (off center and to the right)...i wasn't estastic but i would've gone anyways, not sure if i would've settled for rear (i know i know! but it's PRINCE) because in my situation, i'm going to be driving two hours down only to watch him on a screen! i wanted to be able to see Prince the whole time. luckily we somehow managed to get upper level center for $83 the evening before and i was so damn happy. it's my pet peeve to sit off center. next time, hope we can aim for a lower level center (and hopefully not buy our tickets the night before lol!) but i'm happy with what we got since the stadium wasn't ginormous.

our section was pretty crackin'! EXCEPT the poor couple sitting directly behind me, why does that sh!t gotta happen to me  i was up and dancing most of the show and i felt bad that i was blocking the couple behind me but baby i came to party! the couple didn't start standing up till Purple Rain(17th song) or something. i just don't understand how anyone can sit still when you got that kind of show going on in front of you! unless of course you needed a potty break real bad like Matt and Jamie  i, on the other hand probably dehydrated the hale out of myself by skipping the beer and jammin' so hard :mowhawk:they find me passed out in my seat and say "that used to be Kae but now she is a prune"

Girl, I told you this guy was sexy!
But I don't know what I would do if he looked like that, and then MJ came in his Come Together outfit-_-

i only find him sexy with certain looks, i like curly hair on him best :crush: touchable hair is best
i'm not a big fan of the short, straight hair but then you add a hat or a bed and it's like VOILA! :magic:
if i'm not liking the styling at all, add a guitar and it's like BAM! PURPLE YODA!

& then MJ Come Together :crush:
Naked, we were born in the wrong generation -_-
