Proenza Schouler S/S 08 NYC

this is boring me to tears...
i am so fed up with this season..
i don't know if i can be bothered to even pay attention to the rest of it...

*sigh*

Srsly! There have only been two stunners, Txell Miras & TSE, at this pt. It's ridiculous. Bit sad, too.

This certaintly doesn't feel 'organic'. Seems incredibly deliberate, imo. Again, I'm just glad the multi-colored bustiers have ceased production!

I love it, they always aim for a certain look/feel and hit dead on the mark... but I'm still glad they weren't named creative director(s) of Valentino. I don't think they could manage Valentino-sized eveningwear and coture. :innocent:

You might aware of my shall we say dislike of Proenza Schouler but the dress that sasha was in was kinna cool....its all kinna cool i guess :)

Hmm, have they decided to take cues from CdG S/S 08 menswear with the layering?
I quite like this!

I really hate that leather dress but that's about the only thing. I'm really excited to see these clothes in editorials! While I was going through this a second time I was thinking about all the different ways these clothes could be styled.

The luxuriousness of their clothing would certainly fit in more with Milan shows, but I feel like they add a bit of much needed excitement to New York fashion week. Without their shows to look forward to, New York would probably become another London with its fashion weeks, being categorized as boring and dull.

I've never thought that about London , to me New York is youth and street styling. Paris is those lofty heights of legendary houses like Chanel and YSL all those aspiration labels steeped in history, Milan is luxury , glamour sex etc , and London is again youth and street styling but it's edgy but I think London gets a bad rep because so many designers treat it as a training ground or the first rung in the ladder so I can see why it is categorized as a dull and boring.

I agree, London is boring boring boring. Before you know it, Christopher Kane will be moving to New York.

I love this so much; the casting, the colours, the makeup, the styling - focus on the waist! -... favourite of ny thus far.

This reminds me so much of Proenza S/S 07. I mean obviously since designers do tend to build on a theme but this almost feels like that collection just with a different color palate and more texture. The shapes seem repetitive to me.

The gold is stunning though. I absolutely see the Burberry influence running through this as well. The styling is very Christopher Bailey.

All that aside this looks great - very wearable I can see it selling out. Especially those higher than high shoes.

a mix of Balenciaga wanna-be and Burberry Prorsum wanna-be. unorigininal. Honestly I expected more from them.

what is it that everybody sees in this collection?? :ermm:

ugh i hate the direction they have been going in lately...
i think anna w.'s praise is getting to their heads,
they need to stop being so influenced by her :judge:
their past two collections scream VOGUE...

fw05 was the best...fw06 was good...
and ss07......i miss those collections  i miss proenza schouler...:(

I really wish I knew who the Proenza girl is. Being "quirky" or "cool" only tells me so much. Other then those things, they basically just seem to go where fashion goes, which is fine, unless you haven't defined an aesthetic yet.

Sure the clothes are nice, and the styling is always well done, but pulled apart what's so special about most of these pieces.

Honestly the only reason why this stands out at all is because it's so different from what's going on in NY so far.

I really thought their F/W 07/08 show was amazing, one of the best of the season, and in comparison to that, this one doesn't live up to my expectations.

i'm surprised that so many people love this collection. personally, there is not one piece that thrills me...

disappointed...

you took the words right out of my mouth...

i am so surprised at all these rave reviews...
i dont even feel like i'm seeing the same pictures...
there doesnt seem to be anything new or interesting here for me...

it is all so 'stiff' and tight...
too polished and too groomed imo...
i dont think i'd wear a single piece of this....
maybe all the gold is pretty and the models look good....but there doesnt seem to be anything original or particularly appealing about any of it...i feel like ive seen it before in other collections....i dont really understand the appeal...

it feels like something an older woman would wear to the office or a conservative cocktail party or something...
i dont even know...
it's just safe and boring and blah...

:ermm:

its very cute. i am not in awe, but its better than last s/s

 Back Track it DOEs remind me of Balenciaga!!!!! I went back and really look at the clothes and there was that the whole campus thing(even though that still does not make since). It'll be in US Vogue Im sure with some model jumping in the air with a giggle and a wink
