Proenza Schouler S/S 10 New York

I like this collection. Sure it's not as exciting as they notmally are but I love the colours and think some of the last dresses are pretty cute - though I HATE the last one.

Most lables in NYC have really toned down this season, hopefully London will stick out a little more.

Wow, wow, wow!!! I LOVE this collection. It's very surf, very 90's and very Spring Summer.

BEST collection so far in New York. And the first collection that doesn't look like Fall/Winter!

"We wanted something young, something that felt fresh, so we looked to surfing and skating, the things we grew up on," Lazaro Hernandez said backstage after Wednesday's fun, energetic Proenza Schouler show. Any of that sound familiar? Hernandez and his partner, Jack McCollough, started playing with tie-dyes and scuba elements for Resort. Here, they pushed the idea: They took the notion of track jackets wrapped around waists and built those elements right into tank dresses and shirtdresses, and they teamed a pair of color-blocked track pants with a great tailored jacket for a sporty-chic effect. It's the sort of nonchalant look a lot of designers struggle to pull off; these guys nailed it effortlessly.

As for those tie-dyes? There was nothing hippie about them, cut as they were into micro-mini racerback tanks or shifts, and trimmed at the hem with thick layers of plastic fringe. For evening, the silhouette was short, short, short. A few of the cocktail numbers featured the bra-cup bodices the duo has made their signature, mixed here with tiers of micro ruffles. Other dresses floated away from the body in dense embroideries of beads and feathers, and still others featured the brightest, most novel animal prints to hit a runway in recent memory. Each look was perched on wedge-heel woven sandals as colorful as the clothes, and a few of the models had blue or purple streaks in their hair. There have been moments in the last couple of seasons where the boys—at 28, they still qualify for the term—were straining a bit too hard to come off as "grown-up" designers. For Spring, they found a groove with a concept so simple it should've been more obvious: designing for the cool girls they like to hang out with.

The 2nd half seems garish to me, but only because I read it as being too optimistic. I don't know...maybe it's because of the economy. I was starting to enjoy simplicity.

Bleh. Maybe this is a good thing.

bad choice of models too edgy goth for this collection
but really like the sequins
and love the long-sleeve T-shirt with a-line mini skirt look with oakley frogskins
so 90's surfer girl/ point break

Some of the detailing is actually really clever, but as a whole it's boring and repetitive.

I hate the hair.

But the first part of the collection I really love, and then it's all a bit hit and miss from then on.

it has a very balenciaga feel , im not saying it just like that but it really does remind me of balenciage some how

This collection seems all over the place to me. It starts of so well, the shirt dresses are so great, they should definitely have stuck with the theme going on at the start of the show. It just gets worse and worse after the first 10 or so looks....

this is the only collection in new york thus far where every piece is a must-have. not only have they managed to establish silhouettes so trademark to their brand -- like those skirts and tops -- but they have a knack for moving things forward in the most exciting of ways. this is the edgiest use of color we've seen this week and it really set up the battle lines i think we'll see for the rest of the season -- those in the icy grey, mostly black, color palettes and those devoted to punchy beautiful color. also, their beauty look is amazing.

also, they've presented the only "it shoes" in new york that completely shut it down.

I like everything in post #38 (the first two looks are probably my favorites), then it just kinda goes downhill from there.

Im crazy blown away by this collection right now:woot:, almost every piece is to dye for the colors and prints look look totally fresh and innovative, its a great balance between exciting editorial ready clothes that are completely wearable, this is probably my favorite collection of ny :heart:and the boys best collection ever,im so happy for them no doubt this collection is going to do fantastically well!

i REALLY like this for some bizarre reason..

seems sort of 90s disco..in any case a much better take on grungy New York than others *coughAlexanderWangcough*

It's by far not their best collection, but over all I really like. The proportions are all very Proenza, the dying is interesting (on the clothing that is, and I'd like to point out that purple hair will never be something I lend my support to) and most of all I think it actually feels really Spring/Summer. It's got that vibe to it.

The part started out okay and then it got worse. never been a fan of them and this doesnt make me one
