They're an excellent alternative to strollers/buggies, especially when the baby is really tiny anyway. They have some that work so you can carry them across your chest when the baby is very new, then piggyback style when the kid is bigger and can sit upright unaided and would appreciate more of a view of what's going on around, anyway.

I'd use a sling...easier than trying to huck a stroller onto the bus or in and out of the back of a Volkswagen.

But yes, I think for some reason it has become trendy to have a baby...possibly because most of the most visible celebrities are in their mid-to-late 20s, a time in which most people who are having kids start having them.
